Cheekster   10 #1 Posted September 16, 2014 My shower is leaking water from the bottom of the unit. It comes out as a constant flow and I really have no idea how to deal with such a situation. Is it unsafe to use? Am I likely to need a new one or can it be fixed? If it can be fixed, does a Plumber fix it, or an electrician? Or both?  Excuse my poor knowledge, I know very little about how my shower works :-/
 Share this content via...
Obelix   11 #2 Posted September 16, 2014 I think that's perhaps a little harsh - some people simply dont get electrics especially since we've had regs that stop a lot of DIY in the home now...  The shower is double insulated and will be safe to toucgh I'm sure, although you should still turn it off at the consumer unit - if you have an old wired fuse one then pull out the shower fuse, if you have circuit breakers flip the shower breaker to green.  Then call a plumber to come and take the unit cover off. It's either a leaking input joint (cheap) or a cracked heater chamber (new shower - expensive).  Meanwhile you can look for the pipe to the shower and see if there is a stopcock on it - there usually is and it's going to be in the airing/water cupboard where the hot water cylinder is assuming you have one. Just turn it off there to stop the leak.
 Share this content via...
Micky ET Â Â 10 #3 Posted September 17, 2014 it is usually the over heat relief pipe, most showers are now none repairable but new ones are reasonably cheap. Â We can come and have a look tomorrow .
 Share this content via...
