RJRB Â Â 688 #1 Posted September 15, 2014 I have a 2009 golf estate. Today I parked up and on returning to the car and selecting reverse, the engine revved, but didn't move. The illustration on the dash showed reverse was selected and there were no other warning lights on. Fortunately some helpful people pushe me back and I was able to drive home in forward gears normally. On arriving home ,I then tried to reverse again, and it did without a problem. Â Any ideas why this might have happened. Obviously I am concerned that it could happen again but not sure what should be checked out whilst it is working. Thanks for any advice. mjw47 Â Â 10 #3 Posted September 16, 2014 I assume it's a DSG automatic? Â If so you should have received a recall letter from VW. Â There is a possible problem with the synthetic oil used in the gearbox which can cause the clutches to open leaving you freewheeling. Â Easily solved by switching the oil to a mineral one. Â Just picked mine up after having the work carried out at JC600. Â I received a letter on 30th of August
 Share this content via...
Mozilla   10 #4 Posted September 16, 2014 First find out what gearbox model you got. VW\Audi have a long history of common issues with certain boxes leading the car to scrapyard.
 Share this content via...

medusa   16 #6 Posted September 17, 2014 How odd that I've not received a recall. I think I'll give the dealers a call in the morning.
 Share this content via...
