glennC Â Â 10 #1 Posted March 12, 2017 Now before I go any further I must say as far as computers go I am useless, so please bear with me. Â If I download Google Chrome will I need to delete Internet Explorer? and if so how do I do it? Or, does Google Chrome just install itself and I have to do nothing. Â Will downloading Google Chrome affect anything else on my laptop, e-mail for example? Â I'm with EE, does downloading Chrome affect my ISP? Â Sorry for my complete ignorance in this matter, but any advice would be appreciated. Â Thanks in advance GC.
 Share this content via...
Temuchin   13 #2 Posted March 12, 2017 No need to delete IE, and installing Chrome will not cause you any issues.  You can get Chrome to import your bookmarks from IE if you need them available in Chrome.  As a general point, you can install as many browsers as you like, so that you can decide which one is most appropriate for you personally (I have Edge, IE11, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and Vivaldi on this PC, and find a use for them all). glennC   10 #3 Posted March 12, 2017 Thanks for your interest in my problem, just a couple of further questions  Does chrome come up as an icon on my desktop?  And again, will it affect my G-mail?  Once again thanks.
 Share this content via...
Love2print   10 #4 Posted March 12, 2017 There will mostly likely be a desktop icon unless you asked Windows not to put one there. If not it will come up listed as one of your installed programs or it maybe pinned to your taskbar depending on what version of Windows you are using.  It will have no effect on your G Mail. Your emails are separate from your web browser.
 Share this content via...
PeteMorris   10 #5 Posted March 15, 2017 Chrome or IE or any of the internet browsers are just that. A means of accessing the internet.  However, if you have a preference for one particular browser, there's usually a bit of a 'spat' for which one becomes your 'default' browser (ie the one that launches automatically unless you specify otherwise)...All of them try to get themselves named as the 'default'
 Share this content via...
