Then you will understand, that scum living in one house on an estate doesnt make all the estate scum, also as noted before its not technically in Wincobank...

Now, Im off to Eccleshall to see some drunken students spewing up..... road that is.....

Roads named after places usually refer to the place the road leads to, not to where the road actually is.
For example, you'll find Penistone Road in Sheffield and Sheffield Rd in Penistone.
Glossop Rd in Sheffield is the road that goes to Glossop etc.......

Clearly you lack the humour to see the wind up there...

Where do you get off hey? No wise cracks about bus stops either...!

well im probably thick as well cos i cant see the wind up.
r u seeing things have you spent too much time on stocksbridge by pass .

well i get the point of not rubbishing all the rest of estate cos of a family, and you can get child abusers anywhere, But lets face it
the flower estate has more than its fair share of shall we say
undesirables.
it always has ,even in the 60s.
there are good people there who try to help with the community
as we did ,we started a couple of groups for the kids etc,
but then the place got burgled etc.
there was at least 4 well known burglars on our road alone.
i know other estates have em but on the flower theyre in droves.

a lot of the houses have gone now i know but is it any better.

Before anyone asks, i had no choice but to live up there then as i
was on the rehousing list nearly 7 yr and thats the only area i could have. i needed a 3 bedroom.

Since t020 is so fond of facts & figures, can he show me some facts that prove there has NEVER been a case of child abuse or neglect in the heaven that must be S10/11?

From Wincobank, and proud of the fact. I have friends & relations in S10, but no wish whatsoever to live there!

I lived there some time ago. It was a nice community. Lot's of solid hard working ordinary people. Not particularly a place to find professionals or many students. But not a bad community either.

The local kids don't tend to roam in from neighbouring areas - they can't be bothered going over the hills!! - so i shouldn't worry to much about where it is near.

I've lived in Wincobank for 2 years prior to that Firth Park but lived in lower Shiregreen as a child. I have found it to be ok round here, I'm near the bottom of Newman Road so a distance away from the flower estate not particularly had any problem but then I don't go up the road so probably wouldn't notice.

Incidentally Tara I've always thought of the flower estate as being High Wincobank but my mum classed it as Shiregreen because the school on Bracken Road used to be Shiregreen School. However I don't think the tenants association has any connection as these are recent. I believe originally The Flower Estate as with The Brushes Estate down at Firth Park was a separate estate as they have been named but somehow got incorporated into the others along the years. Oh well, I don't know very fuzzy round the edges anyway.

I have lived in wincobank now for nearly a year.We did a lot of driving round at different times to see what the area was like.
I think it depends what sort of person you are and what you do, weather or not you would settle there. We are a family and we have a car, and we keep ourselves to our selves.
we are fortunate enough to have good neighbours who we did approach before moving, and got advice about the area from them. But in any area you can live within 300meters of an area and it be worlds apart. But speaking from my experience we see some people who you think may be dodgy but none of it effects us .We don't have kids loitering around our home and we live our lives with our family not our neighbors .
We are protective parents and wouldn't let our kids play on the street any way, we occupy and enjoy our children's company. There are lots of walking areas.
You know yourself do your research because its who you live near and what happens near you. But we have been happy hear

If it helps, my sister has recently moved to Wincobank, and the help and support she has had from neighbours has been marvellous ... its and industrial area, yes, but it seems to me there is a lot of community spirit, which is sadly lacking in parts of Ecclesall.

as a resident of the flower estate for over 30 years i disagree with a lot of the comments made about this estate .true in the early 80s/90s it did have a bad reputation. but since the demolition of part of the estate and the scum bag families moving to other parts of sheffield ( they may even be your neighbours now) this estate with the subsequent decent homes work is now transforming the area.local people are now going to more council meetings about the estate (well i seen a few new faces there ) plus the redevelopment of the estate due to start soon or early next year (which has been a long time in coming) with houses for sale/housing association will see this estate hopefully turned around . just look at the houses for sale on the old co op dairy which is just across the road from the (flower) selling in the region of 120 grand . anyway rant over
