Wiggins for me; he won the Paris–Nice, Romandie, Critérium du Dauphiné, Tour de France and Olympic gold.
In those events he was on the bike for 150+ hrs and covered 4000+ miles at an average speed of 26mph, the man is a machine *bow*

Wiggins, for these reasons. Plus, with the Dauphine, not only did he win it, he was the defending Champion.

Seems like we're spoiled for choice this year - I voted Ennis because she's local, but really, any of your choices plus a huge number of others (Mo Farah beat The Cube as well as winning a gold! That's worth something!). It's going to be a tough one this year. Team GB for team of the year though, if a whole olympic squad counts.

Its a tough one this year I think - couldnt call it.
Personally I would like either Jess or Bradley to win it.

If people voted purely on results, then Wiggins wins by a country mile. But these telephone viewer votes could throw up a different result, people voting with there heart and not there head.

They have the Helen Rollason Award for that. One GB athlete that sets the paralympics alight would be a strong candidate.
My thoughts on who should get the awards:
BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award: Bradley Wiggins
BBC Overseas Sports Personality of the Year: Usain Bolt
BBC Sports Personality Team of the Year Award: Team GB Medallists
BBC Sports Personality of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award: Chris Hoy
BBC Sports Personality of the Year Coach Award: Dave Brailsford
BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year: Can't think of anyone who is 16 or under (at the start of the year).
BBC Sports Unsung Hero Award: Olympics volunteers.

Bradley Wiggins has fought off chronic depression and his mod affiliation makes him so much more interesting than the typical sports jock-plus he cleaned up in TDF and time trial.Personally given the recent events I would advocate one for both men and women.
