I put a post in 3 places on the forum last night and it has disappeared.
We have a 13 year staying with us for the unforseeable future, and I would like her to have some friends as she has come to stay with us from Wales, and is feeling a little left out.
If anyone knows somewhere she could go local to the Wincobank/Shiregreen area, we'd love to know, please. Are there any Church youth groups, gym clubs and Theatre workshops, as I know she likes that kind of thing in particular.
Thanks

I posted a sensible response last night, but it was surrounded by not very helpful ones (also it might have been pulled if you had posted it in 3 places). I suggest that you have a look at the ASK SID website as it has links to loads of clubs that might be useful and you can do a postcode search - here is the link. Hope that helps

Thanks Lucy
I'll have a look at that.
It may be why it was pulled, because I posted in threee places. I was tired and couldn't get my head round where it should go on the forum, so popped it in in a few places.
(My work colleagues gave me a few ideas as to what the "unhelpful" comments might have been, so it is good that it was pulled. )
However if anyone else can give a good, polite response to this posting, it would be received gratefully.
Thanks

Thanks for the SID site,
2 youth clubs in the whole of S5, this is ridiculous.
And people moan that this area of Sheffield is bad? Maybe if someone invested in the Youths...

Maybe its time the People invested in Youths, and we leave the Govt out of it.
Creating groups, places for them to meet etc needs to come for the local community.

Yes, it needs the community but these things often need resources too such as a venue and this area of Sheffield doesn't have much at all for young people

How many empty buildings are in your area? Or derelict?

I work for a youth club in Arbourthorne and we are really struggling for funding, in an area that desperately needs something to keep the young people occupied and out of trouble. It just doesn't make any sense!

Maybe they don't all advertise on there? I'd never heard of SID until now.
Some useful searches might help;
shiregreen.net
north east community assembley
activity sheffield
sheffield futures
sheffield wednesday community program (not just football)
Hope that helps.
