Hi All,
We would really like some table names as the typical 1,2,3,4,5 seems a little boring! Problem is where not sure what to use...does anyone have any ideas or experiences? Looking for something a little different that will have our guests thinking!

Hey,
We had our past holiday locations (that we'd been on together) for our table names and the top table was where we were going on honeymoon. If we had been on holiday with someone at the wedding we tried to sit them at the table named where we went with them.
Also a friend of mine had important dates, so there top table was the date they got married, and they had there dates of birth, when they met, got engaged, moved in together etc etc.

Does your wedding have a theme to take inspiration from? Do you have a hobby that you share? Do you like cars or motorbikes?

We are having Scottish Highland place names (we love it there). The top table is Traigh, the name of the beach we got engaged on. My advice would just be to make it personal. I've heard of relatives getting offended if they are on a seemingly lower ranked table number wise, so named tables are the way to go

LitleMermaid that is exactly why we're doing it, as well as making it more personal. CLK1 we we're actually thinking of something along those lines, where we have been on holiday and where we're going on honeymoon Chez2 we haven't really got a theme as such so not sure about that one. Just want something nicer than 1,2,3,4,5

If you don't have a theme you could use flower names and colours or previous suggestions. I don't think we gave our tables numbers. We got married late so we could invite everyone to the sit down meal and have one meal instead of a night 'do' as well. The sit down meal went straight into what would be the night disco. So we didn't have to move the tables we had a top table then round tables set around the edge of the room in a horse shoe shape. We had a table plan at the door and names on the place settings but no actual table numbers. It didn't seem to cause a problem with people finding their places. We had about 100 guests who all managed to find their place.

Disk Jockeys was the theme for table names that came through my print shop last year.

Wedding I filmed a couple of weeks ago had the names of their favourite pubs, or in particular, the ones where they had got drunk together the most! Although they named the top table "Chatsworth" as this is where they met.

Lots of lovely ideas. I think people might find it easier to find there place if we give them names/ numbers as we have a lot of oldies But the other thing a friend suggested was to just let people sit where they like, I quite like this idea as well. But I think naming them would make it more personal

I think this would work if you are only having a buffet but not a sit down meal. OK with a buffet as some people will be standing at the bar/walking around/outside smoking/etc so there will always be seats spare so plenty of flexibility.
But for a seat down meal everyone will be sat down at the same time. You might end up with couples/families sat at the opposite end of the room because they can't sit on the same table together.

I would choose something that is personal to yourself and your husband - maybe films you both like, places you've been, countried you've visited or if you have a theme incorporate that into your table names. I had a Christmas wedding so I had reindeer names for the tables with the top table being Ruldolph.

I've worked quite a few where they have used film titles as there table names, but it is entirely down to the couple. There was one especially beautiful one however that used old film titles as they had a bit of a Film Noir theme going throughout.
