I am opening a new business in Crookes in couple of weeks.

Any recommendations on best way of advertising in that area? Local weekly/monthly magazine/paper?

Hello again. Surely the best medium to advertise in depends on the type of business. Are you going to tell us about your business or is it a secret?

Whenever I advertise in Crookes, I always use a town crier. As regards to cost, it is very much up to the individual crier, an average cost would be in the region of £150 to £200 per day plus expenses, although I'm told Denlin's husband Dennis will do it for £5.

It's a mobile phone shop. The plan is to advertise through leaflet distribution, University of Sheffield monthly paper for students, facebook and twitter.

I posted this because I wanted to know any other good ideas or any local paper in that area.

Hi, best way to advertise is on the internet and through social media such as twitter and facebook. Make sure you create your own free website, and you must register with google places. I created my website recently with a company named Yola, there are many other websites available too.
If you would like to backlink your site with me, then let me know. Thanks

Google places is a must for a business like yours.

A Facebook Page would be an easy and effective way to start promoting your business within your specific area.

Facebook advertising is by far the most effective online, due to the amount of info users provide you can target people in your area who talk about iphones (for example) and are students.

If you need some help setting up a page or doing an ad' campaign we offer these services, but i'd be willing to give you some free advice any time.

is the shop next to where the bookies was that's now shut?

even though we get a lot of flyers, often useless, through the door round here, they may be a good way of advertising in addition to the other things mentioned. will certainly make a change from leaflets from pizza places etc, some of which are as far as London Road (why?! do they not know how many such outlets are already in Crookes and Walkley )

The best way i have found to advertise my business is with a leaflet campaign. Have a word with pete @ Signs & Print on infirmary road who does great value printing and then phone Mark @ MJW on 07928252777 if you need the distributing. They are the people i use and i get a great response.
