Not seen one this year.

there is something not right i have a pond and we normally have quite a few mating and a fair bit of spawn but this year nothing. I have come across one or two toads in the garden but no frogs for some time.Have any other forumists noticed any changes?

i was sorting the bottom of the garden out yesterday behind the shed as i had ripped all the brambles out and i moved a couple of pieces of wood and a medium sized one hopped out.
we have a pile of wood down one side of the garden and for the past 5yrs or so, every time i move them to cut the grass, theres always 1 or 2 under the pile of wood.

Our pond is usually heaving with them and their progeny but I have only seen one single frog this year.

It's very wet out there, so they have no need of a pond right now, and are happily eating slugs somewhere dark and quiet. They'll be back next spring for the annual orgy!

They kill frogs, but I've never seen a cat actually eat one.

They are all in my garden! My parents garden has tadpoles, but we rarely see frogs! When they are grown they must migrate from fulwood to come live in my garden in Crookes dammit! My dog is scared of them xD

I had dozens of frogs breeding in the pond this year as usual. The problem I have is that the Newts eat most of the tadpoles and very few of them make it into mini-frogs.
The Toads however disappeared around 3 years ago, we used to have loads spawn in the pond but they just aren't around any more.

They're back :-)
One middling and one small size.
Rather brownish in colour.

They are all in my cousins jungle garden at Parson Cross.
We had to stop mowing and strimming as there was lots of them jumping round.

My usual routine before mowing the lawn at this time of year is to walk around the lawn and move any froglets away.
Today I've just moved at least 50 off them off the lawn, and I've noticed recently that there seems to be much more than usual.
Like many observed here, our pond had much less spawn in it that in previous years, so it seems odd that I'm chasing so many froglets off the lawn.
Also I've noticed that there are some tadpoles and efts in the pond, which seems quite late.
Anybody else noticed an increased number of froglets in their garden?
