Just wondering if anyone keeps having problems with their broadband?
I use Wi-Fi to connect my laptop to the internet. My connection keeps dropping and over the last few days it has become a regular occurrence.
As I was writing this the connection dropped. Twice.

Is it the Broadband connection dropping or the ADSL connection? Could be an issue with your phone line, ADSL filters, phone cabling, lots of different things can affect it.
If it's just started happening, then it's unlikely to be an internal factor - unless something has physically changed in relation to the wiring.
If a neighbour has just started using the same wireless channel as your router, this could be causing interference. First thing to do would be to wire your pc into your router and see if it still occurs. If so, then it's likely to be an external issue, or a problem with your bb equipment. I agree that there are a ridiculous number of variables that can cause the problem. Talktalk's record leads me to think it's probably down to them though

What happens when the internet connection drops out?
I live in S2 and mine has gone down several times since Sunday. Had to reboot the modem this morning as the speed went down to 445kbps and now its 3255kbps.
When I say gone down I mean phone line OK but internet off for anything up to an hour. I have been told that some upgrading is being done for the fibre optic network they are introducing.

It happened quite a while ago - intermittent, then none! - down to a male BT engineer who couldn't remember if he had disconnected us in error - took a female BT engineer to sort the mess out! So would be worth checking if you have seen any BT vans in your neighbourhood messing with the 'green box'!
We are with virgin broadband fibre optic and its been pretty rubbish for a while now. It keeps going on and off and the slow speed is pants too especially these past few days. I live in S6 and am fed up with it.
I am hoping that its because virgin are upgrading the speeds like they advertised months ago but who knows????

If your exchange is not listed this needs to be investigated as an individual issue. Please contact us either via the TT Members Forum or alternatively you can Tweet us @TalkTalkCare where we can provide full account and service based support.
No, nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to make sure.
eta: Problem I had with talktalk (apart from the rep who refused to depart from her script despite the fact I'd already rebooted bothe modem and PC several times hence my leaving) was their DNS servers were unstable. I switched to a mix of backbone, google and openDNS servers.
