hey

im writing a novel and some of it is based in the 40s/ 50s and being born in 1991 i don't really know the language used back then, can anyone help?

i just want to know about insults and swear words used ect

not sure if it was the 50's, but I remember "speccy-four-eyes" - an insult to people who wear glasses.

Then there is the classroom "Dunce" - bit of an idiot

Also, and sorry, this is not very nice at all - spastic - which was used against anyone who was disabled, or downs syndrome.

I don't condone the use of these words at all, and never did, before everyone starts having a go at me!

'etc' is often spelled as 'ect'.

Otherwise you could conduct interviews with people of the era? Maybe watch tv set in the 50s, those documentaries about the war and so on. They probably didn't swear too much on TV back then though!

then it would have to be "your a right bugger" or "chuff off" springs to mind. ******* was used but in the more fatherless way to a person out of wedlock then it was much frowned upon. There is loads more out there so come folk help him out
