dont think so, we unplug every night but cant be a loose wire or all channels would be fragmenting.

Have you done a channel rescan and checked that it's picking up the correct transmitter?
With the BBC channels effected it sounds like Mux 1 has a poor signal which is causing picture break up.

If the other channels are fine then the tv sounds ok. Are you watching on freeview or Sky?

Have you rescanned the channel list and made sure its picked up the correct (Emley Moor) transmitter? This is definitely down to the signal strength, imo. I had the same problem with my Digital Stream PVR, it would pick up the West Midlands transmitter for Mux 1 which caused the BBC channels to break up.

now 9.55pm and picture has gone again. its saying programme not tuned in. 10.50pm Why should it have moved from emley moor we never touch the setting because we have no idea about tuning. I have tried going on to setting and "reset". watching the eurovision song on analog, rubbish picture but not breaking up.

Somewhere in the setting of the TV Menu there's an option to see the signal strength, take a pooch at that, below 55% get your aerial and/or sockets looked at.

Actually the signal strength meter on your TV is not all that useful unless you know what a "good" signal looks like.
The reason is some TVs show the signal strength measured against the strength for the best reception whereas others seem to measure it against maximum potential input strength.
If you get a 100% signal based on the maximum then its usually too powerful for good reception (mental I know, but its supposed to be to do with how at least some TVs have signal boosters built-in that you cannot disable) and you have to use an attenuator to bring to signal strength down to between 50-75%.
However if your TV is reporting based on ideal reception then obviously 50% could be a bit low. The problem is, there is no way to know which method your TV is using.
So all you can really do is use it to compare the signal strength/quality to other muxes no your TV to see if there is an obvious reduction in reception compared to the channels that are working fine.
How is it coming in tonight? I'm getting 100% on everything would at least would seem to eliminate it being transmission problems.

Friday PM, update as i am a live in nanny for my son i'm only online friday pm & Saturday, back home and the picture is great on bbc but we have to put tv on standby to change channel. i wonder if it was the heat last week that caused the problems, and as for the tv's in the other rooms they havent worked since the change over last year. i bought a box for the kitchen tv but could only tune bbc in, the other channels wouldnt work. told you we were useless,

any freeview set top box or a tv with built in freeview is over 5 years old then it wont be compatible with the new switch over, there is a list of over 120 models on the freeview website, unplug the freeview from the mains for 5 min & also unplug the aerial from the freeview box , switch on the box without the aerial and retune which it will then say no channels found, unplug the box again for 5 min and plug in the aerial, switch on the box and retune the box and this should now find all the available channels. I had to do this as i lived in portsmouth and had to clear all the channel list and retune to the new transmitter and works with no problem.

Hi, update on fragmenting tv, at the start of the footie last friday we watch the first 40 mins then the picture broke up. so after that my oh has been trying to tune it again, well on wednesday of this week he hit on something that has worked. the best he could tell me was that a white line worked its way across the screen and when reached the end the picture was whole again and not had any more trouble. now hes having a go at the upstairs telly!

For what its worth I will just throw this in:
I currently have my 6 six year old Sharp-32" panel setup in the dining room,
with an indoor arial on the top if a 2-metre curtain pole. ( Its a temporary
arangement whilst other jobs get sorted out. )
For about 90% of the time it works fine, however with the freaky weather we've
been having recently BBC news, Sky News, BBC-1, BBC News, BBC-4 Extra (radio)
and BBC World Service (radio) tend to 'Break-up'.
I'm just amazed that it works given the Heath-Robinson setup I have.
