Well the nintendo conference payed off i think, i knew about what the Wii U was going to look like a few days before the conference but after seeing it not from a picture view i think it looks alright, abit on the downside about it being what i think looks more like the gameboy black&white if you face it a certain way but yeah i though tit would have been a brand new idea, and a new console different from the Wii.

Most of the video games they showed looked impressive but mario to me is just getting abit old now, yes i know its a vintage game if thats the right word but they have just made it again and start from the beginning but instead collect loads of gold coins. ZombiU looks well good different type of video game again, wasnt expecting something like that though.

Whats your opinions on the being able to play the console through your TV aswell as have the Wii U and along with the control pad which to me looks near enough the same as a xbox 360 controller.

Your post made my head hurt.
The wiiu pad looks nothing like a gameboy.
You always collect gold coins in mario
We all saw the wiiu at last years e3.
It is a new idea different from the wii.

Whut?

The wiiu is suspected to be roughly 1-half times as powerfull as the current gen or to put it simply 2 wiis bolted together or 4 gamecubes.

They have made a controller for it, so you can also play the wii u games through your tv and with the game boy thing i didnt mean it looks the same, i meant its like the same width of it, near enough the same size as the wii u is larger

That's two days you're making my head hurts you play the wiiu on the tv do you think the tablet part is the wiiu? It's not that's the controller. The actual wiiu looks very much like the current wii but rounder on the edges.

That's the add on pad like the classic controller for wii you don't get that with the wiiu you have to buy it separate. The primary controller is the tablet.

Wii is a square console with remote like motion controllers.

The wiiU is a roundish wii console with a tablet motion controller.

And the wiiU will flop from day one, it dunt really offer anything new, its just a revised wii.

Nd they say u dont need tv to play games, you can play them through that tablet if someone is watching tv. Yeah how long before you get fed up of that method.

WiiU=boring
Nintendo E3=boring
Nintendo now=boring.

Its just a machine for kids now. People want hard core.

They said that about the Wii (by comparison with where M$ & Sony were going at the time). A lot.

Meanwhile, several dozen millions Wiis sold later...

Nintendo might be 'boring', 'plain', 'casual' etc. by gamers' gamers standards, but that is one gaming company you would be a fool to bet against early on.

As for 'hardcore', that is fast becoming an ever-less relevant portion of the overall market. For worse, 'People' want more and more casual, pick-up-&-play 'apps'. That's not (just-) me saying it, it's industry stats for the last 2 to 3 years.

Witness the biggest gaming phenomenons in recent times (in volume): Minecraft and Angry Birds. About as hardcore as a granny's afternoon tea and biscuits

That's because the wii was different in an exciting way because people had never payed games like that before and it was a fitness craze console.

Nintendo have been there and done that wih the wii. Now all they have done with the wiiU is upgrade the hardware for HD graphics and added a screen to a large controler. Nothing really eye opening.

I haven't played any games with a "screen-controller"? Have you? (parallels with the VMU are very much redundant, btw - that was never a controller in the first place, never mind 'the' main controller).

It might 'work' in the same way as wiimotes were found to 'work' after all. Or not. Who knows - it will be down to the gamedevs to make the most of the new interface (for it is a new interface, after all).

Well, as I said...time will tell whether these 'minor tweaks' appeal to the buying public or not. I'm not a betting man, Nintendo have flopped before (once), so I'll happily sit on the fence for now. But I do know that Myiamoto is still working there, and on supporting the WiiU, so I wouldn't write them off as simply as you suggest, just now

Personally, I'd rather have 1 good 'hardcore' CoD on 360/PS3 and Mario Galaxy on Wii, than a string of me-too 'hardcore' CoDs and MoHs on 360/PS3 only. But that's just me, of course.

Other than an ipad and my tablet no. But even tho it will be tablet based, it will be quite basic and not long before you get bored of it.

As far as I understand the WiiU and its controller, this is not the same as playing a game on a tablet: the iPad/Android tablet is the game support, display and interface, whereas the WiiU controller is only the interface (so 2 screens are effectively used at all times, the controller screen is only a controller and display 'extension', so to speak). Again, not really comparable.

I'm curious with what implementations will come out of it. I think AR (augmented reality) developments are much more relevant to the WiiU controller and where Nintendo is going with it (e.g. things you see on the TV, and things you only see in the same image through the screen controller - basic example), than touchscreen smartphone/tablet gaming as such. In that context, comparisons with the Vita are more relevant than with 'standard' home consoles like the XB360 and follow-on or PS3 and follow-on. IMHO.

No one over 12 cares about Nintendo, especially when they push endless new Pokemon "colours" on the DS, which are all basically the exact same game as before with a few new Pokemon added.

Really?

I have an 8 year old who, by the look of things, already appears vastly more open-minded, where gaming is concerned, than certain 30+ year olds on here...

Yet another stupid uninformed opinion the majority of wii owners are older people I buy every Nintendo machine and I'm 35.

the thing i hate the most about the wiiU is that they haven't re-designed a whole new machine, they have took the wii and rounded the edges off.

they could have put a bit more effort in and made a nice machine. and why does it have to be white. white consoles look cheap.
