Hey
I've got a 1st date on friday night where we are going to go out for drinks in town. Problem is it coincides with the england match which i know he doesn't want to watch. Anyone have any ides of bars or pubs which would be suitable for 1st date & not too rowdy?
Thanks for any help

If you're looking in the city centre, maybe try the Red Deer on Pitt St?

If he doesn't want to watch the England match then he's not much of a man and quite probably secretly gay. If I were you I'd cancel the date and go and watch the game with your mates instead.

Not ALL men like football. My other half prefers to play video games over watching any sport.

I agree, if he does'nt like football he can't possibly be a real man. Dump immediately.

We aren't showing any of the Euro's at the Wick at Both Ends (or The Harley) and we have had a fresh lick of paint so are looking rather smart these days - perfect for a first date.
We serve a wide range of cocktails, spirits, beers etc.

Yeah - because gay men wouldn't be interested in men with muscley thighs running round in shorts.

The wick at both ends has good cocktails is a bit different and won't be rammed. Dada is also different from a lot of bars and isn't too rammed for you can actually get a seat and have a conversation. Platillos (maybe 1 L) does really good cocktails.

The wick serve really bad food and the owner is arrogant. Don't go there.

all joking aside if the OP wants a decent pub with no football, she might like to take her date to one of the real ale places round kelham island such as the shakespeare, harlequin or fat cat. They'll be busy obviously with it being a friday, but there probably won't be any football showing.
Of course if rowdy pubs are that much of an issue it might be best to rearrange the date for a quieter night of the week.

Computer games are for kids ………. I cant believe that someone would own up to “preferring” video games to anything in the real world.
