Does anyone know anything about the former industry near Dungworth.

I drove past some buildings earlier with a chimney with the name "dyson" painted on, and there are what looks like some offices and storage facilities around it.

Anyone know what happened here or work there etc?

Dysons used to make refractory bricks etc , mainly for the lining steel furnaces and I believe they were in business for over 100 years. The factory closed about 3 years ago as orders fell due to competition from abroad.

My Dad spent his whole working life there, apart from a period in the forces towards the end of WW11.
I remember the Christmas parties for the employees children held in the canteen every year.
Father Christmas always made an appearance. Sometimes coming down the false chimney erected in the canteen, sometimes by aeroplane floodlit on the office roof, or by a sleigh pulled by a horse.

Happy memories.
