Any (car) audio specialists in the house?

I've recently fitted an amplifier and sub in my car but I'm having issues with the sub cutting out.

I'm pretty sure the amp is all wired correctly and i have a decent earth/ground.

I think the issue is with the way the sub is wired, I've searched online for a guide on the best way to hook it up but can't get my head around it.

the model numbers of each are:

Amplifier: Sony Xplod xm-d500x
Subwoofer: Audiobahn AW1200V

The sub has 8 terminals to which i can connect speaker wire (4 on each side) and the amp has two sets of L+R where i can connect the sub to.

Any help on this would be much appreciated, Ta.

The product description for the sub i have states:

'the woofer has two 4 ohm voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 2 ohm load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents a 8 ohm load'

The manual for the amp states:

'Suitable speaker impedance: 2-8 ohm'

So would i get the best performance wiring the sub in parallel or in series?

..a bit more reading would suggest that wiring this sub in parallel would give me the best results, and could anyone tell me how i would go about wiring this sub in parallel as there are 4x ports on either side.

From looking at the spec of the amp

The performance of the Sony XM-D500X was quite impressive, given the cost of the amplifier. It easily exceeded its “Car Audio Ad Hoc Committee” standards. (Do you think they mean CEA2006 standards?) Using the CEA guidelines, the XM-D500X produced nearly 346 watts into 4 ohms and over 553 watts into 2 ohms. To produce this power, the XM-D500X drew 26.6 amps into 4 ohms and 45.9 amps into 2 ohms respectively. Using my handy dandy calculator, the Sony amplifier produced its power with 90% efficiency at 4 ohms and 84% efficiency at 2 ohms. Very impressive.

When you say the 'sub' has 8 terminals do you mean the box, or the actual 'sub' it's self?

and do you have one, or two of them? in one box?

eac seperate 'speaker' (so to speak) has 4 terminals, (as each has two coils) and it's these which matter when wiring up, and yes, 2 ohm (Parallel) would give you the best sound and performance..

(that basically means wire up like this...

O--O
O--O

instead of..

O--O--O--O
