Ok setup first:
ISP: talk talk (LLU) with phone line from them as well.
Phone: panasonic cordless
Router: D-link

First what happens: Always in the same time frame starts at about 1AM-3:30AM Happens sometimes once a month, sometimes once every 2 weeks.

First the internet cuts off. Router status page, internet red X, dsl synch red X. Phone line completely dead (no tones no nothing) Router says "PPP: Connection terminated."

After a while, the phone then has a tone...but it's an engaged tone. Can't call out, internet still not connecting.

Then at around 3:30AM everything is back to normal.

I have given the details to talk talk support on their forum, with each of my posts becoming more detailed with router logs and times etc.

Every time fobbing me off with "when it happens, use a corded phone in the test socket bla bla"

Common sense tells me that it's not the face plate as the phone would be dead all day, and it's not the phone because of the same reason.

So; same time frame, once a month or sometimes once every two weeks. Instead of making a few calls for me to see hat might be going on I am getting fobbed off with useless nonsense.

Now can any of you guys think of what might be causing this? My exchange is the Greenhill one.

Googling, no maintenance is showing up for it and perhaps talk talk looked that up first. Or not, I'm guessing not even that.

So could it be aliens, big brother, elvis, what? has to be something external.

EDIT: PHONE LINE not like. someone PLEASE edit the title!

With it been a similar time it has to be something to do with some sort of maintenance. Maybe when a back up is running or something similar it is triggering a fault somewhere. It sounds to me like it would need a high up tech to deal with it so I would keep badgering them. You will need to speak to a manager or a managers manager I would guess as the regular tech support would probably not have a clue.

It's so hard to get them to do anything. All they need to do is make a few calls butthey are not even willing to do that.

TalkTalk customer service just read from a script with a flow chart. Not one of them seems to have the ability to deviate from this and actually apply logical diagnosis.

It's most likely a fault with their equipment.
