I have decided I would like to become a foster carer in the near future. I meet all the criteria apart from I currently live in a 1 bedroom council rented flat. I wondered if Sheffield Council would be willing to offer me a property with a spare bedroom before I apply to be a carer?

I know there are hundreds of fabulous foster carers in Sheffield and wondered if someone had been in the same position.

Even if you don't have a spare room you can still foster babies. It's fine for babies and toddlers to be in your room with you.

Maybe best to rent privately or buy a property.

Perhaps if you go through the application and become approved, then the council/housing association might play ball. Especially if S/S talk to them.
Just guessing.... Your supervising social worker will know i'm sure.

Thanks Art Blaze, just thought that if I am going through the Sheffield City Council fostering team, they may be able to help with the housing as its the same Council.

It was a joke.
It pays to keep a sense of humor these days.
Dint mean to offend.

and i to don't mean to be rude but if the council rehoused potential foster carers into bigger housers/flats i would guess there would be a lot of people doing fostering for about twelve months then packing it in, i am not suggesting you would do that for one minute
