Has anybody been recently? and more importantly is the food any good?

Groupon have a deal with them today and I want to know if it's worth buying it.

I've always found it to be good food, I wouldn't say there was much difference between now and since it had the revamp, still great quality at a good price and the staff are very nice.

The food at Casanovas is excellent but its not a cheap place to eat. The last time I went, the bill for 4 of us came to £200.00 but we did have 4 bottles of wine, lol

Hi

I've been at Casanova's a number of times, for various occasions and different days of week. The food is always delicious and the service is great too!

Best tiramisu in Sheffied, in fact equal best with anything I have had in the UK (Valvona and Crolla also pretty good). The Sicilian dishes (e.g. spicey sausage pasta) are excellent and the wine list is interesting. Not as cheap as it could be for a neighbourhood restaurant - we would go more often if the prices were lower - but with BYO it is not too bad.

We went with our groupon voucher on Tuesday it was our first visit and definitely won't be our last. The meal was amazing, drinks expensive though but you can take your own wine and pay corkage at £2 which isn't bad. But you can't use with the groupon. Can't wait to go again yummy

I know they let you take your own wine (I think it's 1-2 quid corkage) which should reduce the bill haven't been in in ages though.

we went with groupon too, my food yummy yummy! OH food not as yummy, but still ok, not sure if the food is a bit hit and miss or if it was just a poorly conceived dish.
service was good, had a lovely evening. word of caution.... we went there at christmas as a party of 17 and they did struggle slightly to get meals out together, would still recommend them tho

It's pretty good I would say. Food, service, atmosphere and prices all OK.

I wish they would turn the lights down a bit though, it's far too bright.

We used our Groupon vouchers here last night and had a really good meal. The starter menu at the moment has reverted to one they used to have some time ago, with nice mussels and a robust bruschetta with roast peppers and goats cheese the highlights. The only minor disappointment were the fishcakes from the specials, which were pre-coated in a very hot chili sauce - it would have been nice to choose how much sauce to put on. Mains were OK, although expecting one person to eat the risotto al pollo was totally unrealistic! This was also a mildly spicy dish but nothing compared to the sausage pasta. Pizzas and calzone were big and tasty, with nice thin crusts.

Tiramisu was excellent as usual, ice-cream was a nice italian variety (on a previous visit it was mass-produced UK rubbish) and the panacotta was also good. We usually BYO here but with the Groupon offer we bought a couple of bottles from the list - Refosco dal peduncolo was a new grape variety for me and made an excellent red.

They had forgotten about the Groupon discount when the bill came but subtracted it without demur. With friendly and efficient service (apart from the bill), it was a very pleasant experience and nice to see the restaurant thriving.

Another Casanova fan here, I'm lucky I live about halfway between Casanova and Vito's, two good Italian restaurants.

We went a few weeks ago- couldn't fault it. Really lovely food, a good choice, and as said before- best tiramasu in Sheffield... or maybe even Yorkshire!

I've been informed it is no longer BYO on any night.

I dare say that they will bring it back in January when things are a bit quieter...

We went last night and the food was great. One of my companions said the tiramisu was the best she'd ever tasted, so much so that she ordered a second one.
