Don't know who you are....but you came along at just the right time.

Last night - half eleven - Middlewood. You were coming back into town.

Thank you so much for stopping and agreeing to take mikeybaby home to Stannington for the £8 I had in my pocket.

We had been to church earlier in the evening and usually would have got a lift home...me (and others) to Middlewood and mb72 then onto Stannington.

However because of the bad weather conditions in Broomhall the minibus got stuck and we ended up catching a tram back to Middlewood and from there we couldn't get a taxi for love nor money.....it seemed nothing was going up to Stannington.

At about eleven mb72 resigned himself to the long walk home and we headed for the tram stop....only for the tram to go before we got there - apparently the timetable was abandoned with trams just running as and when they could.

We stood amazed and mb72 dreaded the worse...having to walk ALL the way.

Then suddenly there was this taxi - I flagged it and it stopped. I only had £8 on me and he said he would do his best to get mb72 home......and he did....not quite to the door but a few yards from it.

So....a really big thank you and to you. I just hope you are on SF and get to read this.

You made a huge difference last night.

What a heat-warming post.

How thoughtful to express thanks to a taxi driver.

I'll pass this onto the Taxi Driver's Association - so they can put the word out to their cabbies.

well done cabbie! i do worry about people in this profession driving in these conditions but to go out of your way to help someone goes above and beyond.

well done and i hope the cabbie gets the praise he deserves! x
