make sure links are relevant. Linking back and forth (reciprocal links) have no value if a)the site you link to has no or low PageRank value and b) is not relevant to your product or service. Don't swap for swappings sake.
I'm starting to hear that Page Rank is being dismissed by Google for SEO purposes; any thoughts comments?

Considering PR is one of their flagship technologies I would be surprised, although they may be reducing its relevancy. I have found PR to be a rather unreliable means of assessing a page's strength and inbound links etc. but that's probably more to do with how slowly Google seems to update PR. It can't keep up with the changes, basically.
One of my sites (homepage) went from PR3 to PR2, yet traffic has continued to grow significantly regardless, and backlinks have also increased, so I personally don't pay too much attention to it.
It's how it's measured "behind the scenes/toolbar" that I'm intrigued about.

yeah, I want to integrate a CMS with my website, to have more content and to manage it easily and neatly (if that makes sense) Theres plenty of tutorials on floating around about integrating wordpress with your site but I have failed miserably... I have experiance with html and im normally totally fine with this sort of thing but im really struggling with this... It involves php and I want my original html design layout but with wordpress integrated.
Has anyone got any experiance with this or could anybody offer any help towards this?

yeah, there comes a point with any software and coding that ends with DIY and means you have to use someone who knows what they are doing. Which means paying for it in most cases. If you want free help, i'm sure people will read your post and PM you. If you want to ask peole to quote you a cost, then you cant make that request in this forum, you would have to start a new thread in the vacancies, and see what quotes come in and see if its affordable for you.

Yeah, its much better in my opinion than Joomla. Joomla was too slow and didnt really do what I wanted it to do. I guess I just picked up Wordpress much quicker.
Ive gone crawling back to Wordpress, just a few things which I havent been able to figure out yet, for example:
Is there a way to have one static post (much like a banner) which is constantly on my frontpage advertising my product, and have my dynamic updated articles/posts underneath in a summary style?
If I find an example of what I mean I will post it.
This is just one of the things which im going to have to suss....
Thanks
Roy

spot on, cheers for that It'll come to me one day lol
My site at the moment has no content on it and I've literally just installed wordpress and playing around with that but do you know how I add a banner to the top of the content part..?
WP is good for SEO, remmeber to use the allinone seo plugin though. This doesnt optimise your website or increase its page rank or search engine position though.
however, after that, you need to optimise your website with the right keywords just like any website. You also need to create links back to your website for good SERPS and PR like any other website needs to.
WP wont catapult you to page 1, but Google likes WP so it responds to it better than a poorly coded site.

Also, are CMS sites like Wordpress ideal for SEO? and an increased page rank?
Am I asking too many questions? I think im milking this thread
Well you weren't asking too many questions until you asked "Am I asking too many questions?" that was too many.
As far as I can see, there is just as much opportunity to optimise your site for search engines in Wordpress as there is in any other CMS. Check if you're able to write your own page titles in your current template. If not, you may need this plugin - http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/...-one-seo-pack/
That goes in /public_html/wp-content/plugins/
Then activate it in your control panel under plugins. Open configuration panel. Deselect "auto generate descriptions".
Your posts should then have full meta data fields to optimise with your keywords and page titles will use your post title (so make sure your titles use your keywords).
As for the banner, I'm not familiar with that template, but hopefully they'll have some documentation to go with it? It looks like they're using a custom-img-header tag, so you would need to go into the guts of the template for that.
Is there a way that when you subscribe to rss feeds that when you click on them they open the article in my website instead of theres? For example my site now is just a mess with links www.outhousesecurity.co.uk and when you click on a story it takes you to the bbc website. Is there a way I can have the story on my own website?
