But I don't agree that a kid just out of school who knows nowt about owt, should get the same wage as anyone who's been working for 10 years and knows a lot about life, and work and being responsible. Who also maybe has a mortgage and kids, that's just crazy talk, Gino
Always a fair few jobs on here - don't forget individual company websites... Many comapnies are no longer using agencies in order to cut costs, so best apply to them direct whenever you see a position advertised! Good luck!
Thanks a lot for comments, mos of them very enspiring, so I will continue to seek for my position, however that seems unbelivable for me that nobody needs a cleaner with Bachelor degree, which is fluent in 3 languages, has full driver licence and have international experience
Hi, i have been working from home part time in the wellness industy for the last 6 months helping people to manage their weight and look and feel great through good nutrition and skin care. I'm currently earning around £1,100.00 per month for working around 10 hours per week. Much higher earnings could be acheived if you can do more hours. If you are good with people, caring, ambitious, and motivated i would be happy to help you start your own business in this industry.

I'd suggest that if you're applying for roles such as these that you omit reference to your degree and experience in management. What use would an employer have for a cleaner with these attributes?
As someone else has said, word your application to the job/people specification most applications require. If it has a minimum educational requirement only mention those qualification that meet or slightly exceed this. If the job needs experience of warehousing don't mention your experience of management.
From the employers' perspectives they don't want to employ someone who is only using their job as temporary until something better comes along.
In a nutshell, offer them what they want not what you've got.
Good luck.

Yes but if you get the younger people you also get unreliabilty in my experience. People of more mature years shall we say value the jobs. Younger people will ring in after two many shandys the previous night and say they are ill, older people will not do that
It's been already 2 weeks since I looking for work in sheffield.
I'm looking for any work, although I have Bachelor degree in Business Administration and goog experience in Supply Chain Manager role outside UK, fluent in English, Latvian and Russian, IT literate ect.
I am healthy, 27 year old male, ready to do any job, including Warehouse Operative, Sales Assistant ect.
I found few job centres, like Blue Arrow, Mannpower, Pertemps and hand in my cv, they told me that will give a call if there will be any vacancy. I am attending work-seeking machines in Job Centre Plus office. What should I do else, to find a job? Is there any agencies that offer help?
Because I belive that I am doing something wrong, because there should be ANY job for healthy, strong and not dumb person!
Its the same for everyone mate, the UK's in a mess at the moment. When I was looking for marketing jobs a few months back there was something like 200-250 applicants going for 1 position. Lots of people downgrading aswell so your up against folks with more experience than you. Plus the agencies dont care about you, there struggling like everyone else so just want to put people in positions ASAP.
The solution was to do a bit of unpaid work in marketing, and things snowballed from there. Now Im starting a Business and its still tough.
Times are hard, 5 years ago there were more jobs and opportunites, you just have to keep trying, think smart and ride it out like the rest of us!

Sorry to double post- this doesnt matter, 3 languages and a degree is NOT going to give you a headstart if you want a cleaners job- have you any cleaning experience??
You'll get something if you keep plugging away, dont get downhearted and dont get bitter about having qualifications and them not being recognised. I have qualifications but thats simply not enough in todays market. Its defo wHO YOU KNOW not what you know in most cases. Keep your ears to the ground and something will come up. Peace. T
To OP - did I read you wrong? Did you say you have been looking for work for two weeks? That's hardly any time at all, really it isn't. Keep looking. :0)
did you know a dry stone waller gets around £50 a meter of wall and at a good speed can do 1-2 meters an hour ? and any farmer land owner can and do,s pay this as the gov pay for upkeep of walls and ancient boundries hedges ect ?
Even before the recession companies with jobs didn't want to pay recruiters to headhunt or newspapers to advertise. Now they're just point blank refusing to spend any money to take people on.
There are plenty of jobs going the hard part is finding them. Make a list of all the companies you'd want to work for, hunt down their managers' email addresses, and send them a CV and covering letter extolling how great a fit you are for them.
Getting your details in front of the right person at the right time is pure luck. This is why you get in touch with dozens of companies, because you only need to get lucky once.
If you are patient you will find work with any number of agencies. Trick is to get yourself known by the client company who may well end up giving you a permanent contract. I know this may not help since you will no doubt be needing cash to make the world go round.....
I don't really agree with the fact that 'kids' should get paid less. im 17 & ive live on my own since i was 16 through my dad dying (my mum left when i was 10). i left school with decent G.C.S.Es even though my dad died inbetween my exams i didnt tell anyone because i wanted 2 prove that i could pass on my own without the sympathy vote. i went to college and now im on benefits and i hate it. i have to spend 3/4 of my money on bills as i dont get the full amount of money until i turn 18. i keep applying for jobs but because i have no experience no employer wants to take the risk with me. ive been applying for jobs since the day i got my NI no. and still no progress. if anyone known any emplyer im willing to do it i'll do any work i can because i hate been sat in my flat stareing at the same 4 walls because i cant afford to do anything else.
Hi Lucy, please look at my thread from yesterday further up this page and my thread at http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/show...6&goto=newpost. if you are interested in talking about this opportunity please get in touch.
hiya Darren I'd already read it the only thing thats putting me off is i have no chace of getting the £80 i need to start it up, the only way of me getting it is by starving myselffor 4 1/2 weeks but if i do happen to save the money up i'll be in touch.
Hi Lucy, it sounds like you could really do with a break. If you are good with people, caring, ambitious, and motivated i would be happy to help you start your own business if thats what YOU want to do. I beleive if you get things for free you dont always value them, but if you want to meet and you convince me you could do this business here's what im prepared to help you. I will pay for your business pack on the understanding that when you have earned your first £1,100 in any single month you pay me back. If i dont beleive you can do it when we meet then i'll tell you there and then. Let me know if you are interested in taking this further.

You are doing nothing wrong. It's an unfortunate by-product of all the nonsense that goes on in workplaces, with a massive reliance on "temporary" contracts to fill permanent jobs, that make avoiding unemployment all your life rather unavoidable for most of us in a normal economy, nevermind one in recession. I'm unemployed too ... all I can say from personal experience is keep trying your best and above all keep up an active social life and perhaps think about volunteering somewhere in the meantime.

Forgot to say, Voluntary Action Sheffield (http://www.do-it.org.uk/) can help you with the voluntary work ... good luck!!
