From yorcard.co.uk "The Yorcard pilot scheme ended on 2 October 2009"

I'm sure I read somewhere of a project to co-ordinate electronic tickets across all providers in time for the London Olympic Games. Maybe they'll feed into that?

I thought it was a good idea. Loads of times I've expected to just do 2 single journeys in a day so bought 2 tickets equalling about £3.00, but then I've had to do another 1 or 2 ending up spending loads more than a day saver. The Yorcard thing would never let you spend more than the amount of a day saver, so for me it would have been brilliant.

would it have worked out the best ticket dependent on the operator? Ie if you did several trips on Stagecoach would it only take the value of the day rider, or the First equivalent if you'd only gone on First? And if you'd used both operators, a travelmaster? And would it then work out the best deal over the course of a week?

Just wondered cos it seems to me that the trial was a bit of a joke...

It was a trial, it failed, it will hopefully be forgotten along with all our money that was wasted on it.

If its the same as those for the Concession passes the scanners constantly down....and the ones that were working I had to remove my card from its wallet to scan it as it didn't seem to like scanning through clear plastic.

The only fun thing about it was all of us women who keep our passes in a clear section of our purses had to fiddle about removing them to pass them across the scanner.....priceless....and a glorious waste of time.
