Don't be too dispirited edgey. I feel like quitting the forum everyday. I get riled by rude, obnoxious and downright ignorant forummers and what I want to say would get me banned in return. I drop in and out of threads and have hardly started any. I sometimes just sit and read threads as if I was listening in on an interesting conversation, then chip when I feel I want to say something. I don't do it expecting a reply.

Thanks guys for words of wisdom. Ive tried starting some threads during my time here and there have been some good ones but i just feel like general interest seems to be dying on here.

I hope you have evidence to support that comment, who comprises this 'clique'? The key is actually starting threads that interest people enough to post on.
I've never found the knack, on the rare occcasions I post a topic, hardly anyone posts on it, or if they do, only to have a go at my boring topic!

You did read the forum rules, didn't you? Anyone trying to leave the forum will be visited at home by a mod accompanied by a couple of "heavies" who will gently persuade you why it's a good reason to stay. Like the mafia, the only way to leave SF permanently is in a box.

I agree the forum these days is **** and im thinking of leaving and also a few others i know , surely there must be better forums out there ?
The Mods seem to have nothing else to do other than delete threads and posts and lock them. Do they Actually Work and have a life ?
There seems to be a growing support of left wing nutters and cussing and bullying if someone disagrees with them
There is constent posts asking "where can i buy or get something?" Do these muppets not have google?
The for sale section is a Joke , You message someone and most dont reply? why bloody advertise if you dont want to sell it
All the criticisms you make have been made before on a regular basis. I've been here the best part of 4 years and there always seems to be someone harking back to some golden age of the forum, where everyone was polite and civilised, where the mods were loved for the unpaid work they do in keeping things ticking along smoothly and where racists, bigots and idiots got short shrift.
Just as in other areas of life, the more things change the more they remain the same. I think you know where I'm coming from.

I've just gone through a week of "can't be bothered" with regard to the forum. It's good to be back though. At it's best it's informative, educational, hilariously funny (a la Basil, Dozy, Mojo, Slickwitch, the incorrigible Jabberwocky, etc.), and uplifting. At it's worst it is a very shallow pool indeed. Everything has its season.
