I have a 48inch tv, great for gaming and surround sound but....
I wouldn't feel comfortable hosting a party in the house for people I dont know or trust :S
Might be interested going to an event but whats this "Rate" you're on about.

Aye, would love a tv that big.
But got this one second hand of my grandad so got a good deal.
didn't even know they were 74 inches.
Although you seen that huge ass TV down on natwests wall on highstreet, I nearly drooled.
Back to the main topic of the post - I would personally like more information.

I had a 96" once. Well, a projector, which is sort of cheating, but I had 96" of HD viewing. Then a move and different shaped rooms forced me to downgrade to a less-than-quarter-the-size 42" LCD. What 'rate' are you talking about? And yes, I have the same concerns, which is why I suggested getting those interested down the pub first just to ease the tensions a bit and to make sure we're comfortable with the idea before progressing.

Since you was curious about this guys rates, I'm assuming you'd have rates, most Lan partys have a pay at the door fea, thus is why i avoid them.

I meant the rate at which he signed people up to his girls-only gaming group, nothing to do with money. There will be no charges here, although bringing a few beers is never frowned upon

Well why not just set up a gaming clan and all meet up on XB live and the PS3 users do their version of the same?
Sorry if thats been suggested already.....

Seems some unecessary stuff was deleted from the thread so I'll need to reply to this again:
I think there's room for both online gaming communities and real life ones. Some of us want to relive the multiplaying fun of the past before there was any internets. Must say I never saw the point of Goldeneye since you could all see where each other was but stuff like Mario Kart is fantastic all in the same room.
I really like a big long game of Mario Party, you can just lazily waste hours with that, it's more of a chat gathering with a game on the side.
Oh did anyone ever play Pacman Vs. on the Gamecube? One person would play as pacman on a GBA connected up to the console and the rest as ghosts. It really is one of the best "same room" multiplayers ever.

Really? Not got round to playing it yet, but it's a Source game so I'd have thought they'd be solid at best.

cant see it happening. I dont know anyone who would be happy with the idea of inviting a load of relative strangers into their house full of expensive electronics. I certainly wouldnt. Maybe youd be better trying to find a pub with a big screen that would let you borrow it for a night? You get your gaming group, nobody has to use their own house, pub takes money over the bar, everyones a winner

Hence my 'screening' process at the pub. TBH if it doesn't take off with a 20-person queue of people wanting to join it doesn't bother me, I'm just hoping that at the very least I can make a couple of new gaming friends to have occasional gaming nights with. I'm bored of online, it's less fun without the laughing and glaring.

Well I'm still up for something, after meeting a few people I wouldn't mind having a small group round. I'm hopefully moving out soon and already not getting my deposit back so screw it Not an invitation to trash the place tho!!
