My nextdoor-but-one neighbour holds the 'Most Miserable Git For Kids' title.

He's retired, does nowt all day, then has the cheek to complain when kids play in front of his house at the weekend. "Can't even get any bloody peace at the bloody weekend around here!!!"

Moaning old git. He's got monday to friday when the kids are at school if he wants 'peace and quiet'.

Hope the local kids give him hell for six weeks. They are all at my school, but they won't see me backing him up.

I bet it really pee's him off when he sees me only having to ask them to mind my car once, and they reply, "Okay Mr *******, sorry", and they move down the road a bit .... and seconds later he'll ask them to mind his fence and they'll reply, "P*ss off you old fart!!"

Serves him right.

same with my neighbour she does not speak to the kids she shouts at them and nags at them watching them through the window all the time, she does not realise that this is why they carry on in front of her house if they see her looking, but if she (and her sad son who still lives at home at 50 btw) just asked them calmly and without shouting they would move on

For goodness sake kids are supposed to make noise! do you remember what you were like as a kid? you would have resented the kind of comments that you are making right now. Let them have their fun. Sure most of them shouldn't be out, but it was still light at 10pm last night so why not?

I say if you cant beat em join em! I did a long time ago!
They should be in bed for 10pm! Not left to do what they want all night thus manafesting into scumbags when they are older because parents with these beleifs have allowed them to do what they want with no basic discipline and control, bu then they don't care cos they don't have work to get up for.

Cant parents controll kids these days.
You sound like the sort of miserable person who sits in their window watching kids playing football or something in an open area. You wait till you can tell they are really enjoying themselves and then go out and scream at them telling them to go away cause they should not be playing there. Then you wonder why they don't like you and swear at you and stuff.

Parents do need to control their kids a little better but they can't tell them to not play in front of "Old Mr. Grouchy tw@t's House" because he will get so angry his dentures will fall out.

Move house. I live by a nice busy road - no kids whatsoever.
However, the traffic noise ... don't those drivers have homes to go to?

I agree with that, it now takes me 10 mins from J30 to J34 on the M1 rather than 30 minutes, and you know what that means, longer in bed in the morning.

I agree that they should be in bed at 10pm although on this hot evenings I can see why they aren't (mine are). However, playing in the street is the thing that will stop them being anti-social as the alernative is to spend the time indoors watching videos and playing violent video games. They usually do have basic discipline but are children and so can get noisy and sometimes over the top. If my children are in bed and some other children are noisy I just ask them to tone it down a bit and they do exactly that with no arguments.

You should be here!! 11 weeks off school. Kids out till 11pm (cos it's too hot to sleep before then). Where I live every house has at least two little people. The whole estate comes to life after 8pm (It can be too hot for them to play during the day and you have to be really careful with the sun). It's like a big street party every night. Long live the summer nights!!!

I like to hear children playing, but sometimes they just seem to scream for no apparent reason - that does get on my nerves a bit. However, I have lots of patience & can sit in my chair with a nice G&T far longer than they can scream for - they soon get fed up & move on to something else!
It would be nice if parents just kept an ear on their childrens volume like I used to do with mine, but hey ho - pour some more gin & soon I wont care!

stop moaning, the holidays have just started so your in for a long wait. All i can say is if you dont like the sound of kids, go move out in the sticks where there are no people to bother you. Im sure you made noise during your 6 week holidays as a kid

And I suppose you never ran about screaming and shouting when you were a kid?

It's what kids do mate, don't you remember?! Or is it so long since you were a kid yourself that you've forgot what it was like?!

Iv'e got no issue with kids making noise. What I do have an issue with is them being destructive or screaming all the time, particularly the girls, THAT DOES MY HEAD IN. I have a boy under 10 and if he is making too much noise for either me or others, I simply tell him to calm it down. Just because I am tollerant of the noise they make dosen't mean others are. I try and find the balance in it all. Howevewr, if the neighbour starts whinging, and it is not justified, I just tell them 'he is a child playing' and they make noise.

I think it depends what they are doing outside and how old they are. I they're just playing and causing no harm then it shouldn't be a problem, but if they are being destructive and swearing loudly then it's no fun being a captive audience in your own home. Had problems with my next door neighbours kids (moved out now ) they'd be playing and screaming until virtually midnight every night during the week and the parents would argue and scream at each other even later. meant i could never get an early night and felt terrible at work every day. plus the patrents didn't work and were always ****** so was unable to reason with them.
Think yourself lucky it's onlt till 10pm.

I have a rule for playing outside for my son. No noisy play before 9am and in by 8.30pm (at the latest). What are they outside for after 10?

There's no better sound than the laughter of children playing, but if they were swearing and causing mischief outside my house at 10pm I would indeed hunt the little sods down!!

I'll be glad when they are back at school for the simple reason that they are ever so bored when they are off. Mine go out to play but they are not out until 10pm. That is quite late. I call mine in about 7pm and they are in bed around 7:30-8pm even though they dont have to get up early, they go to bed at that time every time regardless, i'm not breaking they're routine for anything.
