With the recent pay per view Darts championship and the call for it to be an Olympic sport how do you see Darts future?

I can't play Darts but I wouldn't exactly call for it to be a sport of an olympic calibure, not even fit for pay per view IMHO. Surely even the die hard Darts fans don't want the glitz and glamour of TV coverage all the time it just doesn't fit in with the traditional image of it.

I don't think it fits the criteria for an Olympic sport.

A few years back I would have been happily placed Darts in the hobby section and had done with it. However, Darts has gone through some massive changes over the last few years and standards are unbelievable.

There has been a break away organisation with decent players playing in both organisations. The players seem to make entrances to music now and have all adopted catchy nicknames and there is more money and events in Darts then ever before with it receiving more TV coverage particularly with Sky's involvement.

They play big tournaments in Blackpool and around the world. They even have link ups matches and play people via satellite on the other side of the world.

It is without a doubt far more glamorous then ever before but having said all that I still can't watch a full match on TV. I'm afraid it's just the highlights for me. However, I reckon I may be able to enjoy the atmosphere of a live match in the world championships from what I've seen.

I' against the idea of PPV but PPV Darts is a crazy idea, I'm pleased it flopped.

It's apparently used in the far east to develop kids maths skills.

If archery can be an olympic sport then so can darts.

In archery all you have to do is aim at the middle, you don't even need to ever change your aim!

LOL you're just asking for trouble there, they would have to introduce random spoon tests to make sure that the runners weren't using egg-enhancing substances (such as pritt stick).

On Darts however, I love watching it on TV - even tho I don't think it's a sport as such neither is Archery or Synchronised f***ing swimming but they get in to the olympics so I think Darts should too. Maybe I'm just a very sad man but I get well in to the Darts when it's on telly, think it must be the way the camera always zooms right in to the board when they guy is on his third dart of a possible 180.

Darts is a brilliant TV sport.

So much of it is about confidence and psychology, you get really into the personalities and the pressure of the situation and the atmosphere of the crowd.

I haven't played for ageeeeeeees.. I came 2nd in a works tournament, also claiming the mini-trophy for highest checkout

Once again the do-gooders have spoiled things.
Bring back the big fat beer swilling smoking lads that made the game interesting, after all darts has its roots in the pubs and clubs.

Well they may have banned beer on stage, but they certainly don't abstain off stage.

I don't really think it makes a lot of difference to the entertainment whether the competitiors are drinking or not.

I have never watched Darts or followed it in any way but I just only can see it in a pub with the local leagues going, I can't really see how a darts player can have charisma and charm although I probably have a view of a stereotypical darts player being an overweight 10 pint a session man with clothes that don't fit around his belly.

I never drink when playing snooker or darts. I lose my concentration too easily

I find I play snooker better without drink but I usually play pool alot better when I have had a few. Maybe it's because most pool tables are put together in a bars and eveyone around you is blind stinking drunk so you just join in.
