Nottingham Forest v Sheffield Wednesday 18/02/17

Recommended Posts

With the chances created it would look like the Owls deserved what they got with the full points, but it could be considered the Westwood should have walked.

The laws were changed for this season. Triple jeopardy (penalty, red card and suspension) was considered (rightly) too much.

There are occasions where a red card is still applicable though.

It's debatable whether he should be sent off, but he wasn't and saved what was ultimately a poor penalty.

Only if it's for serious foul play. In this case it was preventing a goal scoring opportunity.

Clucas of Hull was given a straight red for denying a goalscoring opportunity only last week as just one example.

Its all about winning at this stage &despite opinion that Westwood should have walked & bad defending could easily have cost us ... He didn't & it didn't ..!

Onwards to Tuesday night now & another game that on paper we should win ...

Points over performance every time

Totally agree on both counts.:)

That's as good as we've been for a while. Fully deserved and we played really well. Stupid goal to give away but at least for once it was against the grain.

4 wins in a row, abdi looking superb and we're on our way. Lovely.

That will be that particular referees interpretation of the rule, today's got it right.

It was Clattenberg. He's had to join the foreign legion to forget. :)

For the penalty the ref might of thought our defender was there to cover which he wasn't far off if not. Not sure if he should of gone or not but he should of made a better job of the penalty then they might of come away with a point at least but they didn't. Shame we let ourselves down with their goal but aslong as we get one more than them I'm happy

Not the best example since the same ref in the same game allowed a handball goal and gave a yellow for denying a goalscoring opportunity at the other end!

Well to be fair, by his own admission he did not see Sanchez handball it in to the net.

Again, the Gibbs incident was a debatable one, where if the decision had been red you couldn't complain. But that doesn't mean the yellow card is erroneous.

Anyway been bored tonight and decided to look through a few stats, that's 4 wins in a row now for the Owls and it is a good little run but the next 2 are hard games.

With Norwich's indifferent form, Fulham hardly impressive, that result should seal your play off position.
