This is my attempt to put all Car Boot Sales on one post so that Forum members don't have to trawl through the entire thread. Please note that many are seasonal so those in bold are definately on in 2009 (or have a start date), those that are faded out have not restarted this season, any others, I don't have an update on. I've divided them into sections of regular boot sales and a section for any other one offs this weekend and upcoming dates that have been announced. Plus there are links at the end to websites with extensive details of Yorkshire and Derbyshire boot sales.

:help: feedback welcomed and I will try to keep it updated week to week! Please post and also PM me in case I miss the post. Please can people give as much detail as possible or the info can end up being rather vague. I'll try to attribute details of any one off sales to the poster who notifies me so that, if there are any queries, forum members know who originally notified me of the sale.

Just curious about what you guys go to buy at car boot sales and what you pay.

I love a bargain but really use car boots as an early day out at the weekend to get my son out the house, give my OH a lie in and get a bit of cheap retail therapy (we now have so much unnecessary junk in the house, I really should sell, not buy!)

On the whole, I'm buying kids toys and clothes and sometimes clothes for me. I'm loathe to spend more than 50p on most clothing items, especially when new clothes from Primark, Matalan and the like are so cheap, but I often find that the sellers ask what I consider to be unreasonable prices for worn secondhand goods.

What do seasoned booters here think? And what tempts you to part with your money at a boot sale?

I collect angels and Tiggers, so thats what I buy. I dont pay silly prices, I pay what I think is fair.

All I need now is a bigger house to store them in!

Most things football related, but especially football programmes. And I pay as little as possible, but try to be fair as well.

I buy far too much! Usually I get bits for the house and for my daughter, and I always look out for old glass and china to sell. I have just taken on a small (6' x 6') unit at Elsecar Antiques centre, so I have been buying things to sell there. I got a nice bakelite lamp last week, which sold within a day, so I probably underpriced it, but made a nice profit :)

Jim and Rozee, I have always done well at chesterfield on sunday mornings, but you need to get there pretty early, between 4.30 and 5 to get a decent pitch, otherwise your cramped in the middle with hardly any space. I had a good day at marsh lane last sunday, but i don't know if that was because i was on the row nearest the car park.

Thanks merseyman....

But 4.30? That's the middle of the night! Is it light by then? Now my only excuse is not having any tables to sell from....

If you are looking to sell avoid Marsh Lane what a waste of time that car boot is far too many cheap skates trying to rip you off.

Chesterfield Thursday market is how a market should be done. It knocks spots off anything we have in Sheffield, as indeed do many markets in the surrounding area.
