Old bayonet fitting can stick and sometimes not close properly after disconnecting, usually they are fine.

am I allowed to do that? I currently live in a council flat so wasn't sure if I needed someone registered to do it. I did google it but some people were saying it needs capping and doing professionally etc.

Technically a bayonet fitting is not classed as CAPPED OFF, you need to have it capped properly.....contact council and ask, they will INSIST you have it capped properly.....I know this because I am asked to do this several times a year by council tenants

Looking to have our garden landscaping. Require new paving slabs laying in new configuration and install new fencing.

Approx 35m Sq of paving to be laid. Will require approx 2 stages to complete the work.

I have recently bought a property in S10, and am looking to do a few things in the house at different stages. However, I am not sure where to start, and whether I need to get planning permission, building control etc.

1) Attic room extension – the existing loft had been converted to a proper bedroom with a velux window, a proper door and staircase before the purchase of my previous owners, so it has been there for more than 10 years . I would like to make it an en-suite bedroom, push back the existing “wooden” walls a bit, replace the existing velux to a dormer window (facing the back of the property) and add a velux window in the front.

2) Cellar – the existing cellar is currently hidden by a trap door. I wish to put a proper door open to access to the cellar for the purpose of storage only (e.g. put a fridge downstair). No intention to make it a habitable room but I was told by a builder that it would add value if I did!

3) Conservatory – The current kitchen is rather small. I am hoping in a few years time to add a single storey rear extension as a dining/conservatory with access to the garden which is semi-enclosed. I understand that this is a Permitted Development so no planning permission is required.

4) Decking in the garden but assuming this's minor thing

I do want to move in asap and I do only have limited budget after the purchase.

Does it make sense to do the attic first, and then cellar? Or would it be more useful to add a conservatory?

Is it more economical to get one company to sort all of the above? Or coordinate directly with different builders as they are often specialised in one or two particular things but not all. Any recommendations?

I'd highly recommend Gerry Simpson (Gerry simp) on here. He did a fantastic job of fixing my boiler. Gerry was very friendly and arrived when he said he would. He kept me up to date with costs throughout the job. I recommend him very highly.

Would just like to recommend Rudplast plastering services. Did an excellent job at a reasonable rate of replastering my kitchen and living room. Always turned up on time, tidied up and left an excellent finish.
