Saab key fob help!

Recommended Posts

I only have a single key fob for my car, which is the only it came with when I baught it, and today the fob malfunctioned. It took me over 40 mins to unlock the car as the fob is the engine immobiliser as well, and if i use the key to open the door the alarms go off (this is normal on saabs that have remote entry)

I rang up Saab and was told I would have to pay £160+ for a new fob!! I almost died on the spot, thats expensive for a key! I know it has to be programmed to the cars ECU ect but £160??!

Is there anyone who can do this for cheaper? I been told to buy the key blank and fob from ebay myself and just take it to get set up to the car, but I have no idea were to take it, so any suggestions please?

If its like Volvo you are screwed, my new key cost more than that. I would join some saab forums for more accurate advice

I've just paid £122 today for a fob and have to wait 10 days before they have it in stock then another £70 to have it coded and that's for a C2. I can use key manually but the problem then is it only locks drivers door :loopy:

Ring Phil Smith (0114 244 3440).

He's an independent Saab specialist.

I'm not sure if he has the kit to do keys, but I'm sure he'll be able to advise you on the cheapest option!

There is a Locksmith at the bottom of Staniforth road (opp Masterchef) that codes car keys etc. worth a trip/trying I should think.

Thanks people for the advice.

I will try ringing round some places and see what they say. I forgot about Phil, I have called him up before and he gave me good advice.

This may be a stupid question but have you changed the battery?

This happened on my wife's Seat and we changed the battery and then had to reprogramme the remote. Instructions were in the owners manual.
