Where can I find archived Sheffield Star newspapers?

I would love to acquire pictures and covering stories of the 1964 Sheffield "Star Walk "

in "The Star "and " Telegraph " and "Green un " newspapers.

Can anyone help and guide me please ?

Your first job would be to go to central library and ask for the star newspaper that they were on to be brought out for you to look at .

I would ring the library first to check they are available on the day/you need it.

You will need to know which month it was - the papers are filed monthly.

Go through the paper when you find the article note the date of the actual race.

Then go to the star front desk - check opening times very restricted times now only around 3 hours a day give them the sat you want and they will get the file - again I would ring before hand. Maybe worth looking in like to see if you can do it on line.

Be aware star pictures are expensive

Even though your post is year specific are you aware of the 'Sheffield in the 60's DVD' thread (last visited on 12th March 2017 -currently on page 3) on which there is mention of the 1961 Star Walk on old 8mm film taken at Sheffield Lane Top. The whole DVD is, in my opinion, excellent value for money and may be of interest to you anyway as Longley Park pool is also featured.

Get the British Newspaper Archive page to add it with enough votes they may support the idea would make it easier to access information online than trawling through microfilm at the archives centres as good as they are ,The Liverpool echo , Birmingham Post and the Newcastle chronicle have all been added covering years 1950-80 so why not the Sheffield Star?
