Broad Lane is down Rockingham street, which comes off West street. To me, this isn't the centre of town and doesn't seem like such a great location for a Walk in centre, since there's only one bus that actually goes down Broad Lane and most people who use public transport will either have to get 2 buses or a bus into town and then the tram along West street and still have to walk down Rockingham street.

Also, the Walk in centre on Broad Lane is open every day 8-8, the same hours as the one at the Hallamshire Hospital. Not sure if they will extend the hours when they merge together or not

used the walk in centre on thursday evening only to be told to go to a&e at the ngh. after 8 hours in a&e i was transfered back to the hallamshire from where i was discharged yesterday.

the ngh told us that they deal with above the waist & rhh deal with below the waist

What are peoples views on the walk in centre at the hallamshire? they currently open 8-8 every day but this may be changing this year, as well as their location, what do people think of this?

there have been public consulations happening about merging the walk in centre and minor injuries with the gp walk in centre on broad lane. they might all be moving down there later this year, and a change of opening times have been suggested. there was some information on the nhs sheffield website a few weeks ago but this has been moved, probably because the consulation has finished and the commisioners are looking at the results.

The service they offer is excellent, the nurses there seem as knowledgeable as GPs! I went there last year after being unable to get a GP appt and getting more and more ill by the hour, and the nurse phoned the GP and told the receptionist they must see me next morning - good thing as I ended back up at the Hallamshire as an emergency admission ;)

Perhaps town would be more central for people, but there is at least some parking around Hallamshire for patients. I'd like them to open 24/7 though and keep the same staff.

Found it excellent when I had a splinter of wood in my eye, really nice staff and got it sorted quickly as they have an eye clinic. Would have been hours at NGH

I've used the drop in centre at Hallamshire but the problem is parking nearby as I can't use public transport, probably would be easier to park near broad land but if you need to be referred for an exray or specialist help you will have to go to the Hallamshire and queue there too, won't you? Won't some people just decide to call out GP instead?

Have you tried getting a GP to come to you these days? Unless they are aware of a major reason why it's not practical for you to get to them then they simply advise getting a taxi and getting to the surgery. Not that I've ever failed at getting to the surgery myself, but a relative who was over 90, pretty immobile and blind still got this advice until social services threw a tantrum about it to the practice manager.

I have used both, I have used the new one on Broad Lane for my 2 year old son, and more recently I had an ECG there(this surprised me as I didn't even know they had this facility there.) I found the lady G.P. at Broad Lane brilliant, she gave me plenty of time to explain my symptoms and was very thorough.

The building at Broad Lane is a nice clean building too.

The service I have also received at RHH was excellent as well.

My only quibble is, the parking at Broad Lane can be a bit hit and miss, plus you have to pay and display where spaces are limited at say peak Saturday shopping hours.

Having said that, I suppose parking at RHH isn't that great either for the M.I.U./walk-in-centre.
