Brand New Pub/Restaurant at Handsworth - The Sword Dancer

Recommended Posts

It'll be more a restaurant than a pub, only way it'll make money.

Named after the Handsworth sword dancers. Handsworth forum asked for people to submit names and this was what they came up with. It should do well as it is much different to the other pubs in the area being a family orientated one I hope it does it certainly looks good.

A shrewd move, getting the locals onside from the outset. Can't fault them.

Thanks for the link nikki-red, I found that quite interesting. It's nice to see these local traditions being upheld. :)

It's not open yet, mid November I've heard.

Nice touch naming it after one of the few bits of local culture left - in a world surrounded by ASDA/ ALDI etc

Good on the sword dancers - keepin it real

I was disappointed to walk past on Saturday morning though, around 8:30am, and saw loads of pint glasses all grouped up on a table facing onto the main road. I'm surprised they hadn't been thrown about in the night.

It was rammed on opening day. That will be the only time it makes a profit. I would imagine it's closed within 12 months in that location.

I love how so many Hungry Horse employee's are on this thread bigging it up!!!

Why would I work for Hungry Horse? If I did Id probably slag them off not praise them - Merely passing comment that the one I visit is invariably busy
