Carp Fishing in the area

Recommended Posts

I used to fish for carp at the pond at Trowey just down the road from the Trowey pub or whatever it's called now.

I was not really a fisherman but went with a friend. You wouldn't believe the size and number of fish we would catch in an evening. In fact it was probably too easy even for me. I thought a lot of patience was involved in fishing!

It was a private pond and I think owned by the post office.

I have just moved down to Sheffield, and finding it difficult to fish in this area, I have no transport to go fishing which is a bummer, ain't been fishing since 2014 were I landed my pb 26lb 7oz in a place near coventry,( that's were I've moved from), I was okay then as the bus stop was literally outside my house, plus I didn't have as much tackle as I do now, I have seen people fishing hillsborough pond but everyone I have spoke to say that they haven't caught their in ages, theirs a syndicate pond which is £40 for the year which ain't too far I just want somewhere to fish on a day ticket or even 24hrs close by

Rick, you don't have any up to date info on this pond by any chance do you pal ? my mate is local to it and is wanting to try and get a permit for it but he cant find any info about it anywhere ! He was told that it may now be run by HSBC bank but we are not sure if this info is correct.

Can you help bud ?

Thanks RM

Sorry its took a while but a lots changed in 10 years. Fished pretty much everywhere in south Yorkshire and now I work for fishing republic and reviewing for them too.

I'm now accomplished in match, course, carp, pike, dropshotting, jigging, and now fly fishing for carp and pike.

Amazing what happens in the space of 10 years

Aston ponds (and KJS Aston) are pretty much next to a bus stop. Loads of ponds to choose from.

Sorry, I started the tread in 2006. I didn't realise it was that long ago.

I work at the rotherham branch and have to say I love it there.

Which pond at trowey are you wanting. The group of ponds I've fished alot. We used to fish the one at the top of the hill.

I've tried fishing the one behind the pub a few times but nobody new who ran it. I live Barnsley way now so it's a bit out the way for me now
