essex1974 Â Â 10 #1 Posted February 8, 2012 When will Waitrose open a few of their convienience stores "little Waitrose" in Sheffield centre and in Barnsley.Their product range is out of this world, would be delighted if they opened in South Yorkshire and gave "simply food m&s " a run for their money. northernboy   13 #6 Posted February 9, 2012 Don't think they would open a Little Waitrose so close to the Ecclesall Road branch, when there are towns/cities which don't yet have a Waitrose within easy distance ... but it would be nice! tbtc   10 #8 Posted February 9, 2012 Sheffield City Centre already has:  Sainsburys (Division Street) Sainsburys (Moor) Sainsburys (Arundel Gate) Co-op (Leopold Street) Co-op (Castle Street) M&S Simply Food (Train Station) Tesco (West Street)  Around the outskirts of the city centre there are:  Tesco (t'other side of Wicker Arches) Tesco (Edward Street) Waitrose (end of Eccy Road) Sainsburys (London Road) Aldi (off London Road)  Is there really room for any more supermarkets (whether posh/cheap)? gnvqsos   10 #9 Posted February 9, 2012 I doubt the people who frequent Barnsley centre are their target market  There are quite a few closet intellectuals in Barnsley who charter coach trips to Waitrose,HN, and other refined retailers. Andy   10 #10 Posted February 9, 2012 I have a little Waitrose on one end of the street and a little Co-op on the other end.  I find Waitrose less expensive than the Co-op.
 Share this content via...
libuse   10 #11 Posted February 9, 2012 I doubt the people who frequent Barnsley centre are their target market  You'd think that would be the case wouldn't you, but, inexplicably, Barnsley town centre hosts Pollyanna, one of the most exclusive shops I have ever set foot in. Maybe there is an underground uberclass in Barnsley, just crying out for a Waitrose
 Share this content via...
BarryRiley   10 #12 Posted February 10, 2012 I wasn't knocking Barnsley, I like both the town and the people who live there in general. I also can't imagine them bringing a Harvey Nichols to Sheffield.
 Share this content via...
