What does 'pp' stand for on signature at end of a letter

Recommended Posts

I know it's latin for something and is used when the writer isn't there to sign, but what does it stand for??! Remind me!

Thanks! I've been doing it all day at work, and suddenly thought i have no idea what it means - just a vague recollection from school of it being latin!

Its used to indicate that a quoted word or phrase containing an incorrect spelling or error has been written intentionally to quote the original.

Means "thus" or "so".

thanks...

Do you know what sic is an abreviation of ? I assume it's latin...

What does '(sic)' mean?

"sic" is used to indicate that a quoted passage, especially one containing an error or unconventional spelling, has been retained in its original form or written intentionally.

That's quite correct, Meaks,

The man who assassinated U S President Lincoln (john Wilkes Booth) quoted a latin phrase, as he shot him,

"sic semper tyrannum", "thus, always, to tyrants"
