taxman   12 #13 Posted February 3, 2014 I read a Jay Rayner review in the Observer a couple of months ago. He went to some posh upmarket Indian restaurant and had some sort of lamb keema dish. For an extra £3 you could have diced brain stirred into it. He did and said it was gorgeous, providing a creaminess and luxury feel to it. FulwoodFella   10 #14 Posted February 3, 2014  Anyone actually eaten brains in a curry? Apparently they're quite creamy.  Yeah, had them in a Pakistani restaurant in York a few times. Also had veal brains in a trendy place in Israel, they were served cold which wasn't quite what I was expecting!  Both very good, creamy, usual offaly taste, think sweetbreads, but softer. I'd order them again tonight.........
 Share this content via...

metalman   21 #16 Posted February 3, 2014 I was wondering whether you're all going to dress up as sheep and have some sort of zombie-themed party. You might call it Shaun of the Dead, I suppose.
 Share this content via...
Nagel   10 #17 Posted February 3, 2014 I bet you could get them at the new markets where they sell all kinds of unusual and old fashioned offal (like Pig Bag ).  If they didn't have them on display they would probably be able to order them. Neilwalts68   10 #19 Posted February 3, 2014 Does anyone have any links to abattoirs or ethnic butchers that sell lamb's brains? I've never seen them for sale anywhere and I'm relatively familiar with some of the butcher's along Abbeydale Rd. I'm wanted to cook up a curry typre recipe and I've heard they're a delicacy. I can imagine they may be similar in texture to lamb sweetbreads.  Thanks  I used to lambs heads for my dogs from the butchers at Grenoside westney's I think they are called
 Share this content via...

mafya   248 #22 Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the replies. I've heard they may be banned but I wasn't sure as I've seen them infrequently on some menu's. I noted that Akbar's actually sell Lahore Magaz but I've not had chance to make it out there as yet. I think Chaman on the Wicker also used to have it on their menu. May take a trip to Tesco at Spital Hill tomorrow.  Anyone actually eaten brains in a curry? Apparently they're quite creamy.  I have, it has a texture like scrambled eggs IMO.  ---------- Post added 03-02-2014 at 23:38 ----------  What a totally scruffy food to eat, what a vile thought.
