I've just bought a tin of cod roe.

I was going to suggest Taramasalata, but I don't think tinned will do.

My favourite quick snack: drain roes, toss in al ittle seasoned flour, shallow fry in just a little oil till slightly browned and hot thru (tinned are already cooked so donesn't take long.)Squeeze over some lemon juice and lots of black pepper.I sometimes fry a thinly sliced cougette with lots of garlic at the same time.Yum, making me hungry, better go and cook tea!

The stuff you get in tins tastes completely different to fresh roe, which is lovely.

hmmm, i spy a lower fat option to my favourite dinner, battered roe from the chippy.

(actually, perhaps just leaving the chips and mayo would be a good start ;) )

I don't think I've ever had them, they look disgusting when I've seen them in the fishmongers. I have had taramasalata in the past which was nice enough though.

They do look a bit like alien brains, the veins and membranes don't help.
