  5. Before I came to live in sheffield, I used to shop at hmv a bit, and have done a bit recently since they started stocking vinyl. its sad there's no music retailer on the high street now (to me anyway, in the same way some people would be sad about the disappearance of book shops) Luckily here in Sheffield we have some decent record/cd shops with record collector, rare and racy, lp and the one I can't remeber (its very good though) on the debenhams roundabout. I'd be much more gutted if one of those went under.
  6. I sort of imagine she has an engagement ring on a string, a bit like top cat does with a coin.......
  7. love that record. found it in the oxfam in nether edge on vinyl a few weeks ago. very pleased indeed. listening to a new band from Portsmouth, 'the planes' new ep.
  8. mine is a little obscure, its an old soul track by Donny Hathaway.. beautiful voice, great singer/pianist. couldn't handle the fame and died tragically. I think I should like it at my funeral (hopefully not for a good while yet) - its called 'someday we'll all be free' Posted from Sheffieldforum.co.uk App for Android
  9. thanks so much for that. if you've still got hold of then or could get them, I'd love to get a photocopy of them...? ta, Jim Posted from Sheffieldforum.co.uk App for Android
  10. Can anyone help me out? I want to write something on me blog about the old diy 70s/80s fanzines in sheffield. Searching around the internet, I've found four in Sheffield from this (punk/new wave) era - the main one appearing o be Gun Rubber, but also there was Steve's Papers, Home Groan and Submission. Does anyone have copies of any of these still (long shot) they could let me have (or scan it to me, or photocopy it for me) so I can take a peek, and do something with? as far as i can find out, Gun Rubber was written by Paul Bower, guitarist/vocalist of 2.3, and Adi Newton of Clock DVA. pretty cool.... if so, that'd be lovely - you couold dm me or follow one of those link things at the bottom to contact me (or just reply) ta, Jim
  11. i liked it, and my kids did too. My little boy was welling up. The original is also lovely.
  12. what a shame. Loved all of her stuff. discovered her early stuff through the things she did with the cinematic orchestra.
