Now then folks, I'd be interested to know (if anyone has any stats on this) what is average amount of energy required to make a new car? i.e is it more efficient or environmentally friendly to buy a new car or to keep an older one running regardless of the difference in MPG. Anyone know?

Bloody Nora! ... and the other funny things we say

Brass monkeys I believe is an old Navy saying. I think the brass monkey was the device that held cannon balls ... and when it was really cold they fell out... hence the saying.. -
Excel Parking (Staples) ....Rant....Rant

I believe that the car park next to Mothercare (at the bottom of the moor) is for anyone to use. You don't need to use the shops there. The only restriction is that it is one hour parking only. I've just edited this as I remembered that I asked the car parking guy this and he confirmed it...!!! -
Well as I understand it they would be out of pocket by about 7.5 Billion..... I don't fancy the tax increase to cover that one. Look this is simple isn't it. Unless you are an eco-warrior you can't really complain about people smoking can you.

Lizzmobile, this Hippy doesn't eat many ready meals, however, having now got two kids under 2 sometimes we're a bit pushed for time at the end of the day which led me to think about who does the nicest ones for the days when you just can't be bothered to cook. I'd have to agree with em3978, it's great having a load of home made curry in the freezer ready to go.... <slurp>.

Having just scoffed a Sainsburys frozen Vindaloo and finding it to be pretty yummy I thought I'd ask the question.... Who does the nicest ready meals?

m3ckon, "No life outside work" - Sounds familiar. It doesn't take too many years of building and supporting very large systems with 1000's of users and costs of 10's of thousands of pounds per minute for downtime to knacker you out. Plus late nights, endless weekends and callout to really finish you off. Just remembered - an old friend of mine who also worked in IT left to open a greengrocers !!!

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS check. So far Morrisons at Meadowhead have only made one mistake. I used to shop at Sainsburys on Archer and week after week the receipt was wrong. I sometimes think it's deliberate as it's always on BOGOFS or 3 for the price of 2 items. I wonder how many people realise when they get home but then can't be bothered to go back.

Worked in IT for 10 years. Left to do other stuff as I was sick of the stress and mega long hours. I was never at home. The money just wasn't worth it. Now much happier if somewhat light of pocket !!

Anyone Noticed the BBC Haven't Put Their Clocks Back Yet?

Yeah our video was the same. Ditto reset and it updated the time incorrectly.... DOH. I bet someone will be for it over that. -
Well it may be grim up North and all that but you'll do well to get somewhere with a nice garden in Sheffield for under £130K.

Remember Pippy's, Cambridge Street?

Yeah I thought that shop was great. Bought a leather jacket from there in the late 80's. Not sure when it shut down though. Used to love the smell in that place.... -
There used to be a 4x4 parked outside the chippy at Millhouses with .. A1 COD Not seen it for a while though.

I suspect the fact that she doesn't have children is why she is so good at sorting out other peoples..... She hasn't got that emotional attachment that you have with your own children.
