  1. funniest, most accurate and brimming with irony post in years!!!
  2. some people I know think that these people are manipulative scumbags and other people think that they are annoying bumheads..... I think they're annoying manipulative bumhead scumbags.
  3. do I agree with religion? No, it's a ridiculous abuse of people's vulnerability and innate fear of death/the unknown in order to control the minds of the masses. Do I agree with communist suppression of religion. No, it's an abuse of people's human rights by a generally totalitarian regime in order to control the minds and actions of the masses. it's all a big bag of horse manure, Communism doesnt work because people are too easlily swayed by greed and selfishness. Co-operatives can work, as long as it's understood that the ultimate aim of the co-operative is to advance and benefit all its members. but religion, nah, thats becoming more and more disproved and obsolete.
  4. let em ramble for a few minutes, lean on the door frame, smile, nod, maybe pop into the kitchen and make yourself a cup of tea, scratch yourself in a delicate area, pick your nose and break wind loudly, they will, I guarantee, keep on wiffling on at you, when you get bored, merely close the door without a word and go back to your day. it doesnt hurt terribly to listen to some nonsense now and then, and they wont feel in the slightest bit offended until, or even after the door has closed :-)
  5. no god, no ghosts and no flying spaghetti monster ( sorry pastafarians ) nothing to do with logic, or science. It might be a plan for some folk to nip down to the hairdressers supply shop tomorrow, and maybe ask for something to keep separate sections of hair in place for the purposes of cutting, styling or just neatness......
  6. never do today what you can put off til..............
  7. the co-operative do a will writing service starting at £125 including VAT, with a discount for co-operative members. call 0800 023 4710 to contact the wills & funeral planning team.
  8. cooked sausage, allowed to go cold overnight, sliced and slathered with mustard and ketchup on nice crusty white bread with real butter.
  9. too much. we all do. but thats alright, we can blame someone else and suck up to the people who actually caused the problems.
  10. Well, atrocious you may think it, but as you rightly say he's doing pretty well out of it. To describe people who buy Pete's work as 'knowing nothing about art' sounds a bit like sour grapes, none of your works selling lately? Art is subjective, one man's Caravaggio is another man's monkey covered in toilet roll or kitten hanging from screen door with the motto 'hang in there baby'. I don't claim to be an expert on art, don't give a flying fart for line, colour or form, but I recognise when someone has captured moments from my life, in colours that are familiar, that speaks more to me than a cow in formaldehyde, or an installation of frozen turds in aspic.... but hey, we're all entitled to an opinion, everyone's got one..... you know the rest.
  11. just as nothing stopped my 67 year old pensioner father from walking to Crystal Peaks to get the essentials. my post was aimed at nobody in particular, but it was prompted by witnessing ( from the window of a supertram stuck for 45 minutes due to drivers having got stuck at Gleadless Town End) the exact behaviour I was on about. You decided I was aiming my post at you, that's your prerogative, it also says one of two things, maybe heed your own signature, have a brandy and chill, or maybe a touch of guilty conscience? so, can I assume you're now going to run me down if you see me walking on 'your' roads?
  12. True story: a few weeks ago, walking up from Hillsborough Corner to Leppings Lane with Janine, we heard a loud 'CRACK' and turned to see the aftermath of an elderly woman having come out of the Co-op at Hillsborough too fast down the ramp in her scooter, hitting the no parking sign and pinning a small child against it! then she just sat there muttering and dithering until the poor wee lad's mother pushed her scooter away from the sign and she wobbled off on her way!!! beware the aged!
  13. it was about a thousand million tonnes of snow I think..... I can see your point, some people make a point of making themselves an obstacle, and some drivers make a point of trying to intimidate anyone who doesnt have the luxury of four wheels. It doesnt take away from the validity of the point that warnings were issued, had people left their cars where they were ant used public transport, which can run in almost all areas if it isnt stopped by stuck cars, then everyone could have got home easily and safely, the roads might have been cleared more quickly ( remember, a snowplough cant get past a stuck car either) then the pavements could have been cleared more quickly, and pedestrians wouldnt have to walk on the road to avoid the very real danger of injury. just saying
  14. Dear Drivers, perhaps some of you might not have got stuck if you hadnt thought yourselves invincible in the deteriorating conditions earlier in the week, causing public transport to slow down and in some cases grind to a halt, despite numerous messages of advice from the highways agency and the police. if the road is passable, we hear you approaching and you dont attempt to force us into the snowbank, we pedestrians will happily step to one side and let you pass unencumbered. Thank you.
