  1. Just wanted to recommend Jon at JB Heating (forum name: JBradleybz) to anyone who may need boiler service or repair (etc). He has done mine recently and fixed the problem of water leak inside my boiler. Ace job. Reasonable price, honest and efficient. Thanks, Jon.
  2. I read somewhere to say that it's "up to four executors to act at a time, but they all have to act jointly so it might not be practical to appoint that many people." You do have to be very precise of which executor is responsible for what if you want to appoint more than one. Also how do you want them to act on your behalf? Jointly or severally?
  3. Hello, just wondering if anyone can give an idea of how much it would cost to trim a door (bottom) as I have currently fitted a new carpet but now I cant close the door!! Am thinking to ask the carpet shop for referral but would like to get some ideas first. Also is it expensive to put a sliding door in for my lounge. Thanks
  4. You can try AMCE. See my previous reply to this post for their website or just Google it. They did send someone to check and quote and give good advice. I didn't use them in the end only because the property transaction fell through.
  5. Have recently got Lee at JNM Roofing to help with garden wall rebuilding /repointing. Absolutely good work and efficient at a reasonable price. They also cleaned up nicely after their work. Thanks, Lee. My neighbour has already asked me for his number to get a quote. I would have no hesitation to recommend them.
  6. Hi can anyone refer a reliable and affordable builder to repoint / fix garden wall? Or do I need to get bricklayer to help? There are front garden walls, back garden side wall and also it's back wall. How much does it cost on average (e.g per sq ft?) Many thanks.
  7. Hi there, we are looking for a reliable gardener or gardening company to clear out our front and back gardens in a mid terrace house. I guess it would be a half day job. Have been in contact with a few gardeners. Either no show or no follow up after they said they would! Also looking for someone to fix our garden walls and fence. Need someone or a company with appropriate insurance in place, e.g. public liability/third party liability. Any Good recommendation pls. Thanks
  8. Hello there, We are looking for someone to fix our front and back garden walls. One side of the front garden walls has fallen down. Would anyone have any recommendation of a good company / workman to do the job? The key thing is that they have to have got insurance in place to cover their work if that makes sense. Thanks
  9. Hi we are looking for someone to clear our front and back gardens (both are not big as we are in a terraced house). Basically to remove all plants first. Then we need to rebuild the walls in both gardens and a garden fence. The back garden wall is, I believe, shared with the one living opposite to us (but our house is a bit higher up than theirs). After that, we may want to plant some herbs and do weeding. Does a garden service company provide all of the above services? Or shall we get a gardener and someone to do brick work separately? Any recommendation? We are in S8. Thanks
  10. http://www.acmetreesurgery.co.uk/ ACME staff was very professional to give advice about a potential removal of a cherry tree and others (e.g. tree report). Would recommend it without hestitation.
  11. Just wondering if anyone might have an idea of how much a DPC survey and a DPC treatment cost. It's for a mid-terraced house - both the front and back main walls on the ground level. A friend of mine is buyng a property and her surveyor said there was no DPC installed when the house was built over 100 years ago, and suggested her to get a specialist to look into it ..... the surveyor's verdict -- "No original DPC Excessive dampness was noted to plaster surfaces of rear external wall and the party wall with the adjoining property to the right in the kitchen at low level Excessive dampness was noted to plaster front wall surface at low level to the front corners of the house Extensive re-plastering and decorations may be needed after fixing" Assuming it would cost at least £2-3K, right? Thanks
  12. Thanks, everyone. Was being naive to think that we could just take the monies and shake hands to seal the deal ..... Didnt realise a tiny piece of land and an old tiolet could worth £2K :-)
  13. Thanks, Ash. Maybe we would just ask for less than a grand. :-) Don't particularly like the idea of having a plastic or wooden hut in our garden.
  14. My property's outdoor "tiolet" is on the land of my neighbour's garden. They are very keen on demolishing both of ours and theirs, and then build a patio for picnic and BBQ. They would like to buy that "tiolet" and that piece of land underneath it from us and ask how much we would accept. Both properties are freehold. We currently use it for storage but dont mind the idea of selling. Just have no idea about the price. Has anyone got a similar experience of buying or selling such odd item? They have hinted to perhaps buy us a small wooden hut to put in our garden as an exchange if we want to store anything. Does it sound reasonable?
