Freeview Tuning/ Digital switchover megathread
AtiAerials replied to busybody's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Hi it sounds like you have a panasonic tv, i think whats possibly happening is the tv is tuning some channels to belmont which are weak 3 etc and some on emelymoor which are strong 10 etc, so a full factory reset will erase all stored channels and should then tune all channels to the strongest signals eg 10. If you still have problems then i can call out and sort it for £25. Hope this helps -

Try and do a full factory reset if your tv has it, that should solve the problem -

Freeview Tuning/ Digital switchover megathread

Hi, with you living up there in a good reception area your tv can find channels from more than one transmitter and it's possible that the tv has tuned itself onto the the wrong transmitter for some of the channels, the best thing to do is wait till Wednesday and do another full factory reset then you should find it tunes itself in correctly, if not the the only other way is a manual tune but you need to know what your doing and what the frequency numbers are for your required transmitter. Hope this helps, ps this also go's for any type of freeview receiver -
Anyone else getting a poor/no TV signal
AtiAerials replied to FreudianSlap's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
if the tv's upstairs have not got freeview built-in or a freeview box connected to them then all your going to get is Sky on 6 or what ever the sky is tuned to on your tv's. But saying that all you should have only lost today is analogue ITV1, the rest will vanish 21st Sept for Emelymoor Transmitter. £25 callout charge for retuning. 07800 939686 -

I think that transmitter is to do with the emergency services, nothing to do with freeview -

Depending on where you live, most homes will be able to receive some "if not all" freeview programs after the digital switchover due to the power of the signal being increased from the transmitter, but you still may need to upgrade your aerial and replace the coax cable to receive them, again it depends on where you live and what transmitter you can receive. Regarding freesat, yes there isn't many makes that have freesat built into the tv's, Sony did have a few models with freesat built in but for some reason stopped and just concentrated on freeview only, not sure why. If you can't get freeview even after the changeover then you could always get a seperate freesat box and connect that to any tv, you would just need to connect it to your existing satellite dish. -

the easy way is to have a look at which way your aerial is pointing, if its pointing towards the North and its Horizontal Polarization then you will be on Emleymoor Transmitter, if it's pointing towards Sheffield Crosspool and it's Vertical Polarization then your on the Sheffield Transmitter or if your aerial is pointing towards the East Coast towards Lincoln etc and its Horizonal Polarization then it will be on the Belmont Transmitter. Hope this helps.. at Stocksbridge you can really only get Emleymoor or the Stocksbridge Relay -

if you don't need freeview anywhere else in the house then yes, you can have it taken down. -
Date of Sheffield analogue switch off ?

On different dates for each Transmitter all Freeview enabled equipment will need retuning at least twice in that month, eg Emleymoor 7th and 21st Sept 2011. It's different dates for Sheffield / Belmont etc etc. On these dates you will find that some analogue channels will be missing and also some Freeview or all Freeview channels will be missing, a retune on each Freeview enabled equipment, will re-align all the stations for Freeview only, those Analogue channels will be gone forever.... hope this helps some of you -
