  5. 6 weeks ago I bought a Citroën C3, 04 plate from a used car dealer. The day we bought it the engine warning light came on but they just did something with it & the light went off. I was given a months warranty. Just before the month was up the engine warning light came on again & the car had no power, could only move at 5mph. After a few hours it started to move ok but the light was still on. Took back to dealer who after several hours said thw tappits had veen done but no fault found on as to the light coming on so again just took the light off. Christmas day the same thing happened again, had to travel back from Rotherham at 5 mph. Next day the light had gone off & was working ok again. Took it back to dealer today, they had a look at it & after 2 hours gave me a list of problems...needs new coil pack, injection 3, throttle pedal or something like that. It will cost £650 with labour to put right but will only charge me £250??? I told them they should put it right as has had same problem all along. He told me it was a one time offer so if I took it without paying that was it. He wouldn't listen to reason & was arrogant & rude so I told him I would seek advice from trading standards. He told me that trading standards would say I was wrong & I would go running back to him to put right for the £250 but he would tell me no way. Advice please. Am I being unreasonable? Or is the dealer?
  6. It seems like I would be spending thousands before any work is even done yet I see this type of work being done all the time. Some people have said need all sorts doing 1st as in the previous post, others have said apart from having the meters moved it is pretty straight forward. I am confused.... Debby
  7. Are you able to give a proforma invoice should the quote be acceptable?
  8. Its nice to see my fathers name mentioned in these posts as he is no longer with us. His name was Eric Hancock, son of Eric & Flo. As I've mentioned many posts ago I went to St Silas in the 70's.
  9. I have a porch toilet, coal shed & pantry that I want knocking out to extend the kitchen. I then want new kitchen, French doors, tiling & new flooring doing, so I'm trying to get an idea of costs & hoping there is one company/person who can do the lot. There are a few issues though that I am unsure of... The gas & electric meters are on walls that want knocking down? The boiler is above the toilet but on an outside wall The pantry is in the room so the door would also need bricking up The electric meter is in the pantry Is all this possible & what sort of costs are involved? Thanks!
  10. Only just seen your inbox message, as already mentioned my father (Eric Hancock) passed away some years ago as did his sister Sylvia. However I may be able to contact my aunt June & will let her know about these posts as she may want to reminisce also x
  11. Yes I think I got it wrong it was Headford Street my father lived as a kid and your right about the rest of the family, they did go to st silas school.as I did years later. I lost my father a few years ago so any info on what he was like as a kid would be great. Cheers for the memories. Debby
  12. Where do you draw the line from blaming their upbringing to it being their own fault? Also prison is not a punishment, it is to rehabilitate.
  13. Not read all the posts but the school I went to had about 70 pupils, admittedly this was in the 70's. reception & y1 (infant 1 back then), year 2 & 3 (infant 2 & Junior 1), years 4, 5 & 6 (junior 2, 3 & 4). We were actually a very good scholl where grades were concerned & I have done quite well overall as regards grades etc.
  14. I left St Pete's in 83, remember all the names mentioned from my time. Mr Macnerny, Mr Kennedy, Miss Marshall (she gave me the cane for smoking), mr warhurst, he married another science teacher, miss reek, loads more
