Animal microchip implanter and implanter trainer
  1. We have 2 indian runner ducklings that are being reared by a call duck, 1 will be white and the other will have some buff colour, as yet unsexed. I would recommend having a pair and not 2 drakes, as they mature keeping 2 drakes together is completely un-natural and must drive adults ducks insane. If you have a drake and a duck you get the pets you want but they are kept in a more natural state and must surely be happier. Just a word of warning if you intend to go to Oxspring for any livestock...the conditions are not the best and the prices are very high.
  2. My Dad has had Light Sussex all his life (73 years) and they are known for going broody at the drop of a hat. We have Buff Sussex at the moment and currently have 6 out of 12 that are broody. Infact the best broodys are Sussex X Silkies. Yes Pekins can go broody but are easily broken offf.
  3. I agree in an ideal world but we dont live in one. When your living is on the land then sometimes things need to be done
  4. I know what you are saying chez but we have over 50 pekins and most of them have laid well over winter, yes some go broody but not like sussex. They are tiny as there are no large fowl, they are bantys!!! Fab little birds that really want to be part of the family much like our sablepoots. Of the near 1000 birds we have hatched this year pekins are my fav!
  5. Getting back on track about getting shut of maggies.....we are farmers and are allowed to shoot vermin on our own land. We do try to leave alone during breeding season and tend to cull during the traditional hunting season. We also use Larsson traps with excellent results when dealing with high amounts of magpies. This is a live trap and the bird is dispatched humanely. I dont expect the `eco-warriers` to understand why we cull but when you make your living off the land sometimes nature has to be helped to balance every now and then.
  6. I wouldn`t have trained to microchip if I didn`t think it was worth while. Everyday people are re-united with their lost pets purely because they are chipped. Something does need to be done about dangerous dogs but in most cases its the breeders or owners fault that the dog has bitten. Microchipping will help but wont solve the problem. I have trained several people this month and have another 5 to train next weekend, most are breeders and one is a charity. The company I train for has had a record number of enquiries regarding becoming a microchip implanter so it does seem that the public are taking on board what the Government has said. I am pleased that it will probably become law to chip all pups, all foals need to be chipped too which obviously helps with theft. It has been along time coming in my opinion.
  7. Well we all know that homing at 6 weeks is just cruel and no vet would ever say that its ok. Doubt Rspca would do anything.....what about reporting them to facebook?
  8. I had a quick look but havent asked to join the group. Are these kittens pedigree and if so are they GCCF registered?
  9. I microchip, register with petlog within the hour and I charge 10.00 anywhere in Sheffield. 5 years experience and 3 years experience as an implanter trainer. Anytime, anyday, anywhere....07803301260
  10. We are in Dungworth and have duck and free range banty eggs. We also have a small number of quail and turkey eggs. Goose eggs anytime now. Also ungraded barn eggs......alot of our hens are still housed inside for the winter. By ungraded I mean various sizes. Pm me if you are interested.
  11. We have only put one of our cabinet incubators on as we have broodys too. We have put in quail, turkey, pekin banty, sablepoots, buff sussex, barred rocks and jap eggs. All looking fertile so far:)
  12. The bones I get are lamb marrowbones which are fresh so I can freeze them and are free!!! Beef are too large for my hounds and I cant believe that butchers are charging for bones!!!!!!! Crawshaws are a fab butchers and you can ring in to order what you want but I use a butcher in Derbyshire who supplies me with human grade meat ground up with bone that I freeze at home which costs me less than a quid to feed 3 dogs per day!
  13. ANIMAL MICROCHIPPING I offer microchipping for all small animals stressfree and at home I also microchip horses and all animals are registered the same day online with Petlog Peddymark invited me to become a microchip implanter trainer which I now have been doing for 4 years I use the `mini` microchip for small animals which is more humane and I am fully insured I cover all of Sheffield and North Derbyshire for a set price of £10 per pet or £15 per horse Weekends and evenings are no problem and neither is short notice please call anytime on 07525187220
