  1. I agree Sheffield train station, or a photographer
  2. EVERYBODY is told to take a pillow with them to hospital in the 'what to pack in your hospital bag' leaflet!!..why is this a story indeed, I was told to take one when I gave birth in February..the reason was because sometimes it is nice to have home comforts! I took my fave pillow and had lovely nights sleep waiting for my baby to arrive, hospital pillows are RUBBISH and in my experience working in the NHS are more likely to be pinched by other wards than people...if they didn't tell everyone to take their own then they might notice if people were walking out with the hospitals!! ugh the women in the story seems ridiculous for complaining
  3. Perhaps the old women is nuts? ..Or you misheard maybe??
  4. Ooooh I'vew got that Max Brooks book I thought the zombie idea came from New Orleans where the graves are shallow, in big rain falls they would wash up and appear to be moving down the streets?!
  5. Oh I went there in the 80's/90's and I loved every minute, I will definitely look at sending my son there (he is only 3months old!). When I attended, it was called Mylnhurst Convent School and we were taught by Nuns. I know this information may be out of date but there were about twenty children in each year. We were taught French and the level of discipline was very high. I benefitted so much and I am so thankful for my parents for sending me there. Has it's own pool (where I swam my 800 mtrs in my lunch hour aged about 9), tons of grounds and playing areas...it was just a great school.
  6. Hi , I have a very overgrown privet hedge in my garden, its about 10ft high (actually it could be more!!) and we have done all we can without proper equipment. I tried to find D'W landscapes but it says Boston when I did a search online, is that the right one? Any advice welcome as my privet is ruining my life!!!
  7. Oooh is it coming to Sheffield, how exciting!! (not sarcastic!) it still doesn't really feel like the REAL Olympics though, don't know why.
  8. I'm sorry but there is too much prejudice and stigma attached to council housing and those renting..or on housing benefit etc People consider 'better areas' as somewhere to move up the property ladder and to save for years with sacrifice (such as having a small family of one child) in order to afford. What would be the point of this if you can just get it for free?? My house is ex council and it is very well built and I bought the property from somebody who had the right to buy. It is in a lot better order than many 'new builds'. I don't really have a point to make just that many people make decisions with forethought, a lot of people don't and then complain about how things have turned out.
  9. Yes, don't get me wrong..I understand what outgoing means. It is an NHS pension and comes out of my wages before I recieve my pay therefore I didn't consider it as an outgoing once I have been paid, like household bills or loan repayments for example.
  10. You need a really good mortgage advisor, yes it will cost but it meant that I never entered a bank or building society and just had to sign at the solicitors. I was a first time buyer and also went with Nationwide...I had nearly a 50% deposit and banks like Abbey said I could have a mortgage of only £20,000 because I have a pension which was classed as another outgoing..even though it doesn't affect my net income...and means I am saving for my future!!!!..
  11. You have five days, it does say so somewhere online, to allow for postage...I am not sure how you display this though, tax in post springs to mind , no seriously, it does say you have five days.
  12. That REALLY annoyed me at B&Q, an elderly couple parked in the last parent and child space, so I had to park in a smaller space (which makes it difficult to get the car seat out and onto the pram base) when there were loads of disabled parking spaces available..I never knew this happened till I had a baby!!
  13. I saw a some people park in a disabled bay in Tesco...none of them appeared to have a disability (a women and three older lads who were discussing fighting with strangers) I must admit I did look to see if they had a badge (and they did) but only because it annoys me when people take the spaces that are required by people with a real disability. I once knew a women who would use her disabled dads badge when she didn't have him in the car to park closer to the shops. The other day though I did tell a man off for parking in the parent and child bays, as a new mum it really annoys me ..well, I just said "you don't have a baby with you!" ..not really telling off
