  1. Hello there! I'm a qualified English teacher with 22 years experience. I am available to tutor those just learning to read and write; SEN; EAL; GCSE; A level and adult literacy. I can help you write UCAS personal statements, CVs, letters of application... Let me know whether you need a short set of confidence building booster sessions; some revision pointers or some long term support to brush up your skills.
  2. Just had kids throwing stones (three times) at my Window as they walked by (my flat looks onto Myrtle Rd) I just got a picture of their behind as they walked away. Anyone else had trouble or is it just half term antics? Group of 5 - kid who threw stones was male; black; wearing dark rimmed glasses; grey sweat shirt and bottoms; around 11-13 years old Thanks
  3. Spoonster My daughter and I are ill and haven't left the house today. Can you update me re the meeting this morning?
  4. Can we make a freedom of info request to Viewpoint Management Company?
  5. The Management company tell me in a voicemail that they nothing about the trees
  6. Thanks, Morrisminor...the link re Gleadless valley is broken! Coincidence?!
  7. Update Jack Scott has been investigating this matter The Housing dept did not sanction this work. Sheffield CC claim they did not chop the trees. I can't find any residents who complained about the trees. There is a suggestion the management company of the flats may have done it but this is simply because we're running out of people it could possibly me! SCC and Mr Scott will be checking to see if Amey are responsible. It appears that if they are they are in breach of something or other and SCC may seek damages I hope I've got all that right!!
  8. Just spoken with Mr Scott - he knew nothing about it and assures me he will be investigating. Shame it is too late for the already felled trees but let's hope the rest can be saved
  9. Have now emailed my complaint to Jack Scott
  10. Hi, Spoonster I was the one leaning out of my bedroom window! This is where I got wind of the not gritting info...http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/100-miles-of-sheffield-roads-will-not-be-gritted-1-6646811 I have emailed Heeley Development Trust and have left a message with the management company of the flats to double check the complaint hasn't come from 'us'. Can't see how it will have done - the trees were outside of the management company's remit - it was just an easy thing for the workman to say, to blame us
  11. Thank you for your reply These trees didn't look diseased. They were beautiful There has been no notice up about their proposed removal. The fellers have now gone and the road looks forlorn Ridiculous to get so upset about a group of trees but they really were beautiful and a part of our daily routine! ---------- Post added 04-01-2015 at 11:26 ---------- I found this in The Star. http://m.thestar.co.uk/news/sheffield-council-all-set-to-axe-1-250-roadside-trees-1-5587392 Again it says a notice should be pinned to the tree - it wasn't in this instance. Wonder if it's anything to do with the fact Myrtle Road is one of the streets that will no longer be gritted in snowy conditions? ---------- Post added 04-01-2015 at 11:31 ---------- Seems it's been done before without notice Perhaps our trees were damaging the road or pavement (far underneath where no one could see)? http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/archive/index.php/t-944562.html
  12. I woke this morning to the sound of three beautiful trees being felled in the side of Myrtle Road!!! I am devastated! They were so beautiful and me and my little girl loved watching the changing seasons through them and all the bird life within. Why have the council removed them? The guys cutting them down said they were blocking the view of people living in the flats! Well I live in the flats and they were part of my beautiful view!!! My view has now been destroyed!! Does anyone know anything about the council's tree felling agenda? And why do it in a Sunday morning? So no one can ring up and complain?
  13. There is a security 'voice' on The Sum buildings...I can't remember the exact wording but it's something like 'Warning...you are on private property'
  14. Is that what woke me up at 5.45 this morning? I'm over in Heeley and a persistent bass woke me!!
