  1. Now being a 'Wrinkly' am personally greatly inconvenienced by all the service changes. However, my sympathy goes out to more to all the bus users who rely on them to get to work. Well done (NOT!) to the decision makers! Am truly disgusted & annoyed!
  2. Was there 1963-66. Left April '66, was in Building side but as CSE's being introduced, had choice of jobs, so left. Was a hard school, but no hard feelings to anyone there at time - helped me grow up a lot. Feel free to contact me any time - am in contact with other who have the T Shirt. (PS. Did get the dreaded entry in the 'Black Book' for an innocuous incident (my opinion)). Drop me a message please.
  3. Was there 63-66 & avoided him like the plague. Certainly he had a horrific persona. I did not like Mr Howell (Sportsmaster - He was a B*&S?£&d !). Survived & so happy on last day. Spent 1.5 years at Gleadless (Wadge retired during that time & replaced by Peter Dixon - he was ok) - I was luckier than you (I think!). Take care.
  4. Agree with your sensible comments beegee7.
  5. No need to vote on next award - we all know who will win. Very dubious.
  6. To Bethsmummy. My sentence was 1963-66 [building] and left when the school was at Gleadless. Originally wanted to stop and do GCE's, however CSE's were being introduced so decided to leave [building Diploma 2nd Class] and move forward. I was able to choose from several jobs offered [not like today's unfortunate school leavers]. My subsequent employers were always well satisfied with my schooling and I furthered my career via further education. Had no problems with the teaching staff but did not like Mr. Howell - Sports Master [pretty sure it was mutual !]. Best policy to me was at CTS was 'Play The Game'. I do remember that we had to bring in notes for everything (sickness, lateness, etc.) and not to bother my parents - I usually wrote, signed my own and never got found out.
  7. Sorry PopT, I was there 1963-66 but I know someone who attended a lot earlier - I will ask him asap and let you know. Best regards, DocDave
  8. Sorry Rebate, Did not know him. Thanks for contact.
  9. I entered CTS 1963 till '66 in the Building Department. It was very hard at times but I kept my head down and usually escaped trouble , however, one incident, I got caught for (at Gleadless then) resulted in my name being entered in the dreaded BLACK BOOK! plus been wacked by Mr Hunter. There were many hard cases within the school at the time (both staff and pupils) - I will forgive them for any hard times they gave me (any recognition of any miscreant (with my eye sight now - doubtful!) would not be a problem now - all part of growing up)) but also, some really decent school mates at the time (alas - time having moved on and we have all lost contact for many reasons - 'really' growing up, women, drink, life, etc,.........). The Prefects (my opinion only!) were like a secret society (Masonic hopefuls/brown tongues, etc...) in nature and I had no time or respect for most them. They were generally worst than any bully I encountered at that time. End of day - I have absolutely no regret going to that school - I was given a second chance after failing 11+ and am still full of nostalgia for the memory of it. I have done very well since, thanks CTS (including all teachers, not prefects) and all my old school mates.
