  1. Remember it well, I bought my first Frank Zappa album from there(Hot Rats)😭 and also a copy of Oz school kids edition which was banned at the time, a right under the counter job. They also had a sister shop in Chesterfield with a much better selection of LPs.
  2. Cheers Wallace, I'll give it a go.👍
  3. Does anyone know anybody or any firm that provides this service?. I need an old door knocker buffing up. Cheers in advance.
  4. Yes it has, that's why Labour will never get elected aging if it keeps picking leaders in the Corbyn mould. The electorate saw through all Labours policies as just another Labour government putting the country into billions of debt AGAIN, on top of the mountain of debt we already have.
  5. Anyone who thinks Corbyn, Abbott, McDonnell and Watson are fit to run this country are quite simply:loopy:
  6. not exactly in Sheffield, I recently visited Riverside Spice in Catcliffe and was very very impressed, this unassuming little restaurant on Main Street gave me the best Indian meal I have eaten for a long long time. An extensive menu, great customer service and a nice feel about the place. Highly recommended.
  7. I wont be voting for Jarvis either, how he can possibly devote the time and the effort to being our mayor is quite frankly beyond me:loopy:. Lets say there is a real pressing problem facing South Yorkshire, and at the same time an important vote in the Commons. Well we all know where he will be don't we, and it wont be serving the people of South Yorkshire.
  8. I saw this yesterday and have to say a big thank you to you for posting this excellent website. I travelled to Manchester yesterday and the info supplied by this site regarding The Tour of Yorkshire cycle race was invaluable. Once again thanks !!
  9. In the Norfolk at the bottom of Dixon Lane, I was just 16, I got took by a load of older lads from work:hihi: I had 3 pints of Bitter, I was absolutely bladdered:confused:. The start of a very illustrious drinking career.
  10. The Broadfield on Friday night, great nights from my teen years, they were a cut above most of the local bands at the time. Great memories, thanks for re-kindling them:cool:
  11. The names I remember from my halcyon days on the Cliffe were, Pete Beresford(who I know has posted on here) Michael Nash, Roger Souter, Barry Smith, Michael Bickerdike, Glenn and Denis Thompson and I do remember John Stead and if I do remember correctly he did want to be a jockey. In an earlier post someone mentioned Georgie Woods barbers, he had the most amazing contraption, it was a wheel on a pole with a seat on the top and he used to sit on it while he cut your hair:D. I can vividly recall my man taking me there and I used to sit in horror as Georgie used to singe the hair on the mens heads as I thought he might do it to me:loopy: I left Attercliffe in 1966 to go to Brinsworth where I still am to this day, but in 1990 I bought the Lunch Box café and on our first day there my mam Nellie came to give us a hand, after the café had closed we went outside for a cuppa, she turned to me and said "We've come home kid" And do you know what, she was right, Attercliffe will always be considered as home to anyone who was brought up there in the 50s and 60s:nod:
  12. My old natural history teacher at school told me that a normal person in their lifetime will swallow at least 3 spiders while they sleep:gag: Personally, I love spiders, brilliant engineers, they kill flies and dust mites, hard as nails(flick one onto the floor of a table or worktop, they just get up and walk away), as far as I know British spiders don't carry disease. What's not to like:love: Grown men and women afraid of spiders, answer me this what would you rather be chased by, a spider or an Alsatian. no contest is there?
  13. Thanks for your memories of my Mum and Dad, it means a lot !
  14. Yes we did, The Lunch Box on Attercliffe Road.
